Case study 120 - Annular Tear
An annular tear is a tear in the ligament that connects your vertebra to your disc. This ligament surrounds the nucleus of your disc with a strong ring of cartilage fibers called the annulus fibrosus. The nucleus of your disc is a soft, jelly like substance that acts as a shock absorber for your body.
Treatment is usually conservative as most of these issues do not require surgery. Physical therapy is the main state of treatment as well as time for the injury to heal.

What is really frustrating is when just getting out of bed results in injury. Thankfully it was just muscle related and after a month I finally was back to normal. All I did was get out of bed. How do you injure a back just getting out of bed?

Looking online has been a desert. One question: have ever heard of an anterior thoracic herniated disc?

I wonder if a hyperbaric chamber would help. Increase the 02 at a high partial pressure to the disc .. Or discseal ?? Or is that a fad

I am currently in a 7 week recovery from a lumbar laminectomy AND cervical disc replacement after 8 months of PT, pain meds, and an ESI didn't work. The lower back pain was excruciating and debilitating from what my surgeon called a "very large herniated disc" at L5/S1. On top of it, I have stenosis in both areas. Recovery will be long especially because I have an annular tear at L4/L5, too. 🥲 Take care of your core!
