Thanks! I have (3) HE 20-C's & a 20-B out in my broken radio pile. I have one power cord & a ton of HC-6 xtal's. I'm not a tech or anything, but I'm going to try to get one up & running! I'm retired now.

I found a crystal box containing all 23 channels for my HE 20C. i got it with a HE 20 and i threw the radio away because it was completely coated with cigarette smoke grime to the point of the entire radio being brown and i refused to even try to clean it. I got both for $5.00 but it was well worth the crystals. All of them work.

It should take the same mounting bracket as the Cobra 29, Uniden 76/78.... Which is about 7 1/4 inches wide. Very common bracket. 73's Paul

Yes you are correct. I mention and show that the radio and preamp/compressor are both Made in the USA in one or more of these video segments. Might be in the first video, hard to remember because I made three videos of this radio and the repair process. I have a number of 1960's S9 magazines that have the Lafayette ads like you mentioned for this radio and even the preamp/compressor. I don't show them in the videos because of the KZbin copyright madness. 73's Paul

@m0ogy Some NOS components are available. Price varies from reasonable to expensive. If a person wanted to stay with the old style cardboard wrapped capacitors there are a few sources for them but they are so much more expensive then a regular modern axial or radial capacitor. That's just an example. Same with multi rail can capacitors. They're available but normally really high in price.

You can make power cords easily for the 8 pin octal types. A 8 pin octal tube socket works just dandy. The 9 and 11 pin octals are more difficult to find. Especially been true for me with finding any type of 9 pin octals. When a socket can't be found the alligator jumpers will work and can be made safer with heat shrink over them and the pins. Or solder jumper wires one. Cinch Jones connectors, all I can say is good luck. LOL I just make jumpers that are non-permanent for radios that use them.

If you wanted to keep a radio stock , is NOS components available to use on them......or are they massively expensive now?

.....broken tube socket pins, oxidized/corroded tube pins, broken or spread crystal socket contacts, unsoldered joints from the factory (you might me surprised how many I've found through the years), bad solder joints, bad modifications made in the past, and bad controls pots. These are the most typical faults I run into on tube type CB's and tube radios in general.... continued

If you need any guidance along the way let me know. I'll try yo help. These radios are not bad to work on at all. I'm not a tech, just a tinkerer. Main things to go wrong with these radios (most tube radios) is the electrolytic capacitors being under value or shorted, carbon resistors off value or open, bad tubes, oxidized tube sockets, oxidized crystal selector switch contacts, oxidized relay contacts, bad or off frequency crystals, oxidized crystal sockets, dirty controls.......continued
