VP is the only anonymous man I will ever love, just closed a 1028 pip trade on the GBPJPY today. Thanks to your advice I stayed patient and did not react when it went into the red because my lagging indicators told me the trend was still going in my direction. Big love from Belgium!

@@dznArro The trade was only open for about 36 hours, I could've made around 3200 pips but I didn't want extra overnight fees and I felt happy with the profit I made. It's a lesson for the future, next time I'm only taking a certain percentage out of the trade. My indicator combination was leaning towards a reversal and I didn't want to be too greedy...

I'm currently up to this point working through all the content, I typically make notes on 3 videos and 3 podcasts a day, and saving my question until I actually have worked through all the material. So as much as it would suck if I cant get to ask a question, I honestly can not even think of one. Savage podcast haha... I agree with you on not allowing yourself to get stepped all over. Over the years I learned the hard way that being overly openhanded only results in being treated like shit. Most people are lacking in integrity. It's too bad though, I haven't asked my question yet. Was saving for something I really couldn't figure out. You're absolutely right about lagging indicators. And so-called leading indicators are lagging too. Is there even such thing as a leading technical indicator? They all get their info from past price action.

for me the only use of a leading indicator is that, it can serve as an "early warning device" that the exit indicator is about to give it's signal... the beauty of a lagging indicator is contained in these words "getting in early is a waste of time, getting in late is a waste of money"... so, a great lagging indicator will get you in your trade at the right time and mostly in the money...

VP real talk. I knew this day would come. Your channel has blown up. It’s popularity is sky rocketing. You are a smart dude. You have had to have known that this day would come. Why don’t you make a FAQ on your website? I realize this might be time consuming but once it’s done, it’s done. Make it searchable by category. How Many different questions are you getting normally? Chances are most of the questions are repeats. This is just my thought. Keep up the good work!

The podcasts pretty much are the FAQs, and you can search for them on the site. And yes, it's a good feeling knowing we're near the end of AskVP. I may even shut it down sooner. And most questions (especially the repeats) are things people could figure out on their own if they had the patience and fortitude -- or something I've already answered.

VP, some education for you. ‘Lagging’ indicators ‘lag’ because the majority of them have some element of a moving average in them. Strictly speaking a moving average is a low pass digital filter and all digital filters introduce lag. You can compensate for this time lag by horizontally shifting the MA elements back in time by the (period-1)/2 if the period is even or by period/2 if the period is odd. So a baseline of period 21 is shifted back by 10 to elminate lag. Now, the effect of this is that you ‘lose’ the other half of the data at the start (nowtime) of the chart which of course is useless for making trading decisions. The most popular ways to overcome this is to project a line into the nowtime from the last point of the baseline by some form of polynomial/trigonometric regression. Anyway, in conclusion, that is the reason for lag, I hope that helps to increase your understanding

I have heard this so much from price action fans. Indicators are lagging. I have always thought, so what. Are they saying that I have to get in at the top or bottom no matter what? Do I have to try to tell them what a problem with that might be? It is extremely hard to judge the strength of a move when you enter on a hammer candle. I trade trends and I refuse to believe every hammer candle results in a trend. Also. The same people who trade head and shoulders patterns critisize indicators for being lagging. Failing to see that their own entry on that pattern is often far from the bottom/top.

My volume indicator lags when getting me in trends, it keeps me out of literally most of the bad trades however I miss a lot of good trends, I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad thing

Same here, exactly! my vol indi avoids (many) bad trades, but only gets into trades halfway through the trend... ah well, I suppose this is what VP is talking about; we have to stop trying to catch all the pips; just get the good ones. My baseline is getting in (& out) of a normal trend about 1/3rd the way in, and about 1/8th on a really good trend... or about halfway through or later (at a loss) on consolidation :( I've also noticed that reading your vol indi on a weekly chart makes it blindingly obvious if we're in consolidation, downtrend bias, or uptrend bias, or if a trend is weakening = could be worth considering as another sort of 'baseline', a trend 'bias' (from weekly chart), then if weekly trend bias agrees with baseline = extra confirmation? (or if you're taking a trade against that weekly bias, a strong retrace, it could be worth noting to just watch that trade a little closer or take 100% out at 1ATR), or if vol is above avg stick to normal rule half trade off at 1ATR, or if vol way below avg then take 100% out at 1ATR - just some thoughts... maybe it's worth using weekly signals also to flex the rules in our favor?
