Before I found this channel I used to trade using support and resistance and failed miserably. They always teach "if price reaches this level it'll bounce back. If it breaks through it'll continue in that direction, BUT there could be a 'last kiss' which could retest that level." Such a load of rubbish. Fact is they don't know. It's easy to talk about charts after they have happened and it'll sound convincing. Relying on the right indicators is the most efficient way to trade. VP, you're the man! Fan from Perth, Australia

Price action was drilled into me since day one. I used a combination of support and resistance (I called them areas of interest because over time, it was too subjective), Japanese candlestick patterns (I've memorized over 30), chart patterns (I memorized them all), the quarters theory (Bought the book and read it front to back), the Agimat indicator (Repainting indicator that tries to catch reversals), harmonics (I've spent months studying, and bought a couple books as well) and fibs. I did this for over 2 years, and it was frustratingly painful. NO ONE put in as much chart time as me. I would print off sheets and practice on the weekends 5 hours a day minimum, notebooks full notes from so called successful traders, before and after work, I was fucking relentless! All the while I had no idea how to enter a trade, where to put my stop loss (I was often told not to use one), how to manage my trade, how much to risk, and use ratios that made no sense to me. Failing the whole way I really started to doubt myself until I found Nononsense Forex. Oh, and I blew 7 accounts, and I still refuse to give up.

The funny thing is that before coming across your channel, I traded without indicators and used Price Action exclusively. I mostly used QML analysis and Hanzo Shadowcodes which is essentially REVERSAL trading, which is just suicide when you think about it. But truth be told, I made good money this way. I don't believe that either party is wrong because hey, if it works for you, that's fucking great buddy. Now I combine these two hemisphere's and at least 80% of the time, my indicator algo beats my price action analysis. VP is right, it took me YEARS to do get anywhere near good, I blew accounts on that experience. VP's method had me in the dough 1 week after looking over his videos. Be honest with yourselves guy, don't lie because you refuse to believe in something new. Make money, not dumb opinions.
@michaelding3
@michaelding3 3 жыл бұрын
QML and HANZO SHADOWCODES are very popular in Malaysia (Hanso is a Malaysian, anyway). He also admitted in a radio interview that he is now more on the LONG GAME now instead of "Zero-Float" sharp reversal game, why? Because the price always reverse back and fuck up his SuperTide STOP LOSS. As VP said, REVERSAL is a SUCKER's GAME. I am 100% agreed with that. I am a Malaysian, and I know this shits so well and tested both ways, the Reversal vs. VP's way. I can assure you that REVERSAL always fuck up your account if not today, definitely tomorrow because as VP said, the BIG BANKS knows exactly where you put your Entry and your Stop Loss.

This is true. You will not profit in price action if you are bad or inconsistent with your analysis and if you have bad mentality and especially risk management. Price action(Done right) is never bad because all indicators are derived from price anyways. But ultimately at the end, having a personally built algorithm(nnfx way) is still the superior way because this eliminates ALOT of what price action traders struggle with (Mental /"bEST" Entry exit / Decisiveness). So i think even the veteran or pro price action traders should now try to build their algorithm so they can have more time for other side of life.

thanks to VP, I started off forex with a very good teacher that made it come alive for me. got lost in how to juggle timeframes so it was a welcome revelation to ground my trading in only the daily charts! happy to say, applying what I have learned from VP, I have made 8 demo trades that earned about $1000.00 USD. so, I am sold that working out this algorithm is worth the time and effort. Truth be told, it feels a bit like a treasure hunt, working through the material, following the breadcrumbs and doing the trial and error. any time you are just "given" something, the value truly is not appreciated. so, VP, for presenting the material this way, especially to new traders; thank you! it's awesome!

Ive seen all your videos and follow all ur vids, follower of ICT and like minded PA traders, and i only trade PA and i just think you should know i would argue your method of building an algorithm has actually made my PA trading better. I believe the real genius of your system is the algorithm building, as i believe PA can tell you the same thing any indicator could if you know what to look for. Your algorithm indicator list gave me clues on what to look for to be able to confirm through PA.

I still use some subjective technical analysis with my developing algorithm, and I would agree with you that they can compliment each other. The main thing I’m doing with technicals is trying to identify ranges, consolations, flat markets, etc to stay out of trades. I’ve also found my algorithm gets me in well with ping pong markets, trading only with the overall trend of course. I think there is much benefit in coming from a price action/technical analysis background and combining that knowledge with the algorithm. But still 90% of trades I take now are strictly algo. Take out the emotion, take out subjective analysis, the propensity for human error. The algorithm and money management here just makes things so mechanical and consistent

Imagine trying to compare a discretionary “captain hindsight” system to one which has a 60-70% success rate just based off whether TP (ATR) or SL (ATR * 1.5) was hit, not to mention when you get into a long trend and ride that until you get the signal to exit results in 000s pips. You owe it to yourself to at least try it the VP way and if you don’t like it then there’s no harm but honestly I haven’t found a single PA trader that drops gems like this, its always made to seem so mystical and I call BS... I literally have 4 indicators on the chart and can decide within a minute whether to trade or not. Be efficient and go get it 🤑

I used price action for a year and a half. I was part of a group that cost $97USD/month. It had what we were told were pro traders in it as mentors (I take that at face value, in fairness they showed great professionalism and I had no reason to doubt it). One guy in particular was VERY technical in his trading. We're talking Elliott Waves, Trend Lines, price anchors - pure price action trading in all its glory. He had a trading academy with tons of instructional videos incorporating all the technical/fundamental side as well as the psychological side of trading, I gorged on those videos and took notes and started to apply what I was learning on my charts. The one thing I found with price action trading was this: I had NO FUCKING IDEA what to do after I did my technical analysis! I could build a case for both long and short positions on the one chart. And I did it using 3 different timeframes. So yeah, for me - price action as taught by every man and his dog is bullshit. Just my experience and opinion of course. By no means am I saying you shouldn't use it in your trading.

A thousand ways to skin a cat ... the important thing is to understand "what works for you"!!! The Edge in the market is a two way sword. 1. A statistical edge of the method 2. your personal particular way of trading , your personality, resources, circumstance and its connection with 1. that is your personal edge. imho. I just think a combination of the 2 is key. I believe that you just can not ‘skip’ the process of learning how market structure and PA works. It’s true that Big Banks are the ones that move proce, as you said (VP) so to my view it’s obvious that they will take out where the liquidity is (stoplosses etc.) so I think you need to find a balance between the two (PA & good indicators) and that’s what I’m going to do. I could say that you (VP) and ICT both are my ‘mentors’ eventough theybare totally the opposite if ot comes down to their trading approach. But you two have an amazing amount of knowledge about trading in general.

I’ve traded forex for two years and still learning and started on stocks for 1 year before this, and I lost trading price action in stocks but that was due to inexperience and not knowing enough it wouldn’t have mattered if it was PA or indicators, but the last two years I tried, studied traded real $$$ using all the techniques I didn’t lose the money I put but I just broke even.... I think I have studied , tested more than most whilst holding a full time job working over one hundred hrs a week I’m talking I only sleep for 3-4 hrs a night and I still have that habit. But the last 4 months I’ve been searching ,testing the indicator way and the concept of eliminating losses is more mechanical, systematic for me, I think this is what’s most important it’s what suits us as individuals but for me using your way VP cheers, thank you for sharing your experience.

And then I met this guy talking about that I don’t need all of that on my screen, price action is all u need and naked chart reading. Now I was doing well on my demo with the indicators and then I switched to PA and I just started failing HARD. Luckily I didn’t blow any accounts. Thank God I found this channel bcuz I’m back to my indicator trading way and I’m more confident about what I’m doing with VP “at the wheel”. Btw No nonsense forex forum coming soon? 🤔

I tried price action in trading forex. My big issue was that it all seemed very subjective. If a dogi candle or a hammer candle did not work out you should have had the wisdom to cut your losses and go the other way. If it temporarily went against you then you should have held on because you had a dogi candle. It just seemed like a lot of it was based on 'feel of the market'. For me it was an exercise in guess work. It's the beginning of head and shoulders....oh no, it's a N. If other people succeed at it, then God bless them, but for me it just left me second guessing too much to be effective.

Thats why u have rules for everything so it isnt guess work or subjective if u say the doji candle or hammer candle has to at least be like this or more otherwise u wont trsde it then it wong be subjective as u can mkr it more consistent

"Eliminate the guesswork"! That's the key! You watch all those videos by price action's traders and, after 20 minutes of approaching resistance level, breaking out of this ascending wedge, cup & handle forming, blah blah blah, they say that the market could either go up or down. WHAT? If I ask my niece she would tell me the same in 2 seconds and at least I don' feel frustrated. Just like someone else commenting here, trading with pure price action made me feel so helpless, that's why I started sticking indicators everywhere and I'm so glad to see professionals like VP achieving results in this way. I don't regret having tried with price action but I'm definitely an indicator trader and I'm happy with it, there's no reason to even start any debate.

Feeling qualified to comment here because I have been trading the price action way for 2-3+ years. Was slightly profitable, nothing crazy but blew my account due to improper risk management. Price action - yes it does work in some ways. A lot of people seem to have found success in it, especially in the Crypto markets that I currently trade in. Now, that is a retail-dominated market so I see alot of the Dirty Dozen stuff work better there than in Forex. Still, price action trading suffer from one major drawback from the indicator-based approach - that is subjectivity and effort. The first is fairly self-explanatory. There's so many rules and scenarios that you have to plan out for, that even if you planned beforehand you will not cover the majority of them. There's just so many steps in the process that you will likely make a mistake that will fuck up your trade. The second is the effort you need to put in. Price action trading is not binary. You need to redraw your Fibs, Support and resistances, and predict the chart patterns all the time. Even worse if you use something like Elliott Wave. (I was actually profitable with it, but it was so damn tiring). There's so much effort put into the 'analysis' part of trading that while makes it 'fun', it a terrible waste of time. The indicator system is very systematic and binary - much less stress and little effort needed once the system is built together.

Thanks VP for sharing. I'm from Indonesia btw. I didn't trade using indicators nor price action for years. I found my subtle edge on forex trading by trading momentum using statistical arbitrage tools. Which I could make the indicators out of it, but I'm just downright lazy to do it. So I just stick with excel for signals and trade entries. Your argument on Price Action and Fundamental Analysis on FX trading was on point. It was too subjective to begin with. If we are long enough to trade; we realize there is no "good" and "bad" news. All of those erratic movements are just sentiment by other traders. It's much more make sense to make our "edge" more systematical rather than subjective feeling. I found the systematical process is easier to follow and actually help us to get rid of emotion. Trading with PA will just make our emotion all over the place in our trading plans. However, getting rid 100% of human element out of our system are still impossible. At least up until now. Even famous quant shop that trade with AI and algorithm still get oversight from real human in case anything is go broken. But minimize human element and make our system and edge as objective as possible will definitely help. The next quest maybe is to improve the odds on our edge. Or start probably thinking whether our strategy is scalable enough for institution level of money.

I've tried both like everyone out there. I've had some success in crypto using price action. When I came to the forex world week ago, I lost 4 times in a row and wondered, "What's wrong with me? What happened?" After watching all of your video it made sense why I lost- crypto is You vs. Me, whereas forex is Bank vs. Us. Plus, all my indicators were useless in forex. All that lines, box, circles, etc none of that crap matters in forex because we don't move market anyways. Volatility often kicks in out of nowhere to knock out all the stop loss and not respect any of the chart analysis. Zooming out to the daily chart to avoid noise and having system works better in forex. It's more beneficial because it takes less time of your day too. I would usually spend hours drawing things on the chart, learn about different patterns, and staring at the chart. It was (still is) fun for me, but not everyone has the time to do so. Making the system is the hardest and most time consuming part, but once you have that then it's yours and you can use it for lifetime. No need to "guess" where things are going to go; now it's simply looking at the chart and following what my system tells me. VP, I've subscribed more than year ago when I was learning about the different indicators; I liked your videos because it was concise and informative. I don't know how it happened, but somehow I ended up in forex market from crypto. I remembered your channel from my YT subscription list and recently came back. I just finished consuming 100+ of your videos, made my system, back tested- all in 4 days. Now I'm in the forward testing phase in the demo account. 2% risk with 1.5x ATR SL like you said! As of now it's up 20 pips, and it feels incredible (even if it's not a real money hah). Just wanted to thank you, and keep making these amazing videos!

Agree with you, Price Action trading is harsh, is mixed and pretty much very on the subjective side of things, which is the main reason people fail, i have been trading since 2016, yet only got consistent on 2018, now i found your channel and althought i keep doing things my way and with my system, i think all traders should be open to adjustment which is a really nice thing and important thing in the markets. This is the reason why i have been hooked with your topics, and perhaps create a hybrid trading system that take the best of both worlds. really nice thing VP. Respect for you talking the real stuff. Things perhaps newbiews dont even understand, you got my attention with the big banks video, something i found couple years ago when i as talking with a money manager at a desk and told me this, so respect. little people talking about this. Interesting how price action has become somewhat of a mainstay lately. I'm seeing a lot more of it on the interwebs. I got hooked into it for awhile, following a specific guy who has a nice little gig going for him. I read everything about it, set up my charts, "just so" learned all the ins and outs of the various special price candle formations, news entry strategies, became somewhat intimate with all forms of support and resistance and generally closed off my mind to other possibilities. Then, I discovered and subscribed to "VP Central Command" and experienced a paradigm shift in how I trade. What I discovered is that most are still reversal traders and they're still trying to call tops and bottoms using the same old subjective markers to make decisions that have no logical premise. I know it's a touchy subject and some may get offended (which is baffling) but hey, if pushing water uphill is your thing, then carry on... Oh - and the bit about the "25 years experience doesn't mean a thing" reignited an old memory. I was a young Third Mate on a tanker (large ship) when the Bosun (head of the unlicensed crew) felt the need to belittle me by saying he had more coffee time than I had sea time. The Chief Mate, who was in earshot came to me later and said, "Don't believe him for a second. Twenty-five years experience versus one year of experience twenty-five times are a universe apart. If I was to throw him something new to tangle with, he'd be in big trouble...". The moral of that is, beware of anybody who uses that as their calling card, especially if they're trying to sell you something - it may reflect on how well they actually trade.

I have to disagree. I've been exposed to Price Action Trading through Galen Woods who teaches from Singapore. What a master teacher! I've been faster at detecting reversals, pullbacks, trading bias and more than any of the indicators I've put up as confirmation. These indicators were lagging and slower than my analysis through price action. I equate Price Action Trading to driving a stick shift if you like that style. It keeps me on my toes and know when to anticipate big moves.

Idea for next video: Explanation of rules vs. algorithm and how they interact with each other. Perhaps you could show an example of an algorithm full of shitty indicators and what 5 - 10 trades would look like. (Many of us on the NNFX Discord are basically just guessing at how rules might work and when those rules will and won't apply, if that's ever a thing...) I respect what you're doing here VP and I've gone through all the material but I gotta say I've taken a different approach and definitely Price Action (for me at least) is superior, I still use indicators incorporated with my trading but I their sole purpose is for me to gain a "hindsight" into what other traders are looking at/doing instead of pre-defining my entries/exits, I have found this way to be a more successful approach, if anyone is interested in finding out more I would be glad to further your knowledge as well as there is much more to be made from the markets if people can be open minded, starting by getting rid of risk:reward you'd be much far ahead in the game to begin with, but anyway VP continue what you are doing and I wish you all the best and I will continue to follow as I am always reviewing my trading plan on a constant basis ;)

This is a great podcast. Thank you so much. I am totally with you on all of this VP. I was a 'price action' trader or whatever that really means. I was looking at lines and fibs and and and and .... but always left with that empty feeling thinking there must be a better set of rules and mechanics that a) takes emotion out of the game or at least a lot of it and b) provides a level of confidence based upon structured testing and results and c) means I don't spend the short hours I have in the day ontop of my job looking at charts. Massive thanks for your courage in bucking the trend and putting yourself out there. Algo in testing and optimisation only after 3 weeks of converting! Now who still wants to sit looking at charts for hours before work or after or even during because you are looking for that 'perfect entry'!

VP, with the information and amount of detail you’re giving, I’m literally afraid that “the system” is going to try to eliminate these videos from the internet. I considered going with the Online day trading academy months ago, which would have cost at least 12 grand. I’m so glad I didn’t, and I’m sure you could be charging thousands of dollars for this education. I’m sincerely grateful for what you’re doing. Down the road when I’m prop trading for a living, I’m going to fly to Vegas to thank you in person. Price action didn’t work for me. I spent about 15 months experimenting with every price action strategy out there. It felt like it was going to take me ten years to find a strategy that actually worked, and like there was some secret understanding you needed to have to make it work. I call it the price action illuminate, ha. There was just no consistency with it. On one occasion an exhaustion candle would work wonderfully, on the next two or three occasions it wouldn’t work at all. The only thing I found to work with some consistency was the simple flag pattern breakout, which doesn’t happen that often. Can’t wait for the metals content. That’s going to open up a whole new world for me. One thing at a time though

We have to agree on the fact that price is not going in a direction to satisfy one of these two concepts (price action vs indicators) the fact is price does what it wants to do and after that you can interpret the action with both indicators and price action, so aftr the price moves in a direction where both methods will be right explaining its move. I learned from you to use different kind of indicators to decide a direction and not to use the same category of indicators because they will always say the same thing. So I decided to use price action as an extra confirmation in the algorithm because it is on different category. the algorithm that I am using right now is what I got from you (SSL + absolute strength indicators ) + price action and my exit indicator is simply breaking any of the above two indicators. can I know about your opinion in this? and are you willing to gift me an extra thing that I missed you giving? because I try my best to follow everything you say.

I spend more than 2 years of serious forex trading, the reason I crashed my accounts wasnt because I wasnt able to know where the price is going. It was the leverage I had (1:500) Second !! The platform that I used was also the problem. I couldn't see clear because i didnt knew how much money was involved, I needed more visual info on my trade and by changing my MT4 was the best move I ever made.

Agree agree agree, more than 10 years of Forex more with the price action school with just a little bit of profit, there were very little things I learned and practiced about "to win by not loosing". I have introduced a few strategies with indicators, but your concept is much more realistic by building "fail safe" function in the system. Look forward to more of your podcast and video, also looking forward to hearing from you on metals.

Simplest thing I can say about PA is how annoying the subjectivity is. I’m talking from experience when I say that it’s a lot more difficult to follow a system of rules when it comes to PA. Many people see and do it differently so if you decide to be a that kind of a trader DO NOT ask others about their opinion on the trade you’re about to make. The self doubt is turning something you should enjoy doing into something repulsive. I on the other hand, just like our mentor VP, will spend few minutes a day, religiously doing what my indicators are telling me to do 😅 As usual, thanks VP. You changed the game for many of us!

As with most traders I started out using crappy indicators and then progressed to PA and naked chart trading. My choices to go long or short were wrong the majority of the time, or so I thought. Fact is, there are commercial traders (big banks) that have advanced degrees in mathematics, statistics, software architecture, finance, etc., that know all of the crappy indicator, PA, and naked chart strategies. They are much smarter than I can or will ever be. They have sophisticated softwares that are programmed to create a mirage to entice (control) traders for their own purpose. These softwares are only getting more intelligent and they will always be two, and most likely more, steps ahead. Since learning the No Nonsense strategy and building my trading algorithm (indicators off the radar), my algorithm is right the majority of the time. Additionally, I only look at charts 30 minutes a day and then I have 23.5 hours to do what ever I want. Gone are the days of staring at charts for hours on end, which is what is required for most strategies. You can be profitable with crappy indicators, PA, and naked trading (most likely due to stellar psychology and money management), but at what cost? I am a true believer in VP and his No Nonsense strategy. I only say that because I see that it works and that it is 99% less stressful and time consuming and it removes my human, emotional discretion (good for some circumstances, but a hindrance in trading). Go or No Go is the only decision I have to make now and I can make that decision within 3 seconds per chart. That alone is powerful, but combine that with good trading psychology and good money management. That is a life changer! Thanks again, VP! You are a great man! You didn’t have to share any of this, but you did, and for free. Who does that...

Just like bulls make money and bears make money, same way fundamentals work and tech analysis work .The problem is that most traders are not trained to trade properly thus the 90% failure rate . Anyone can be trained to trade properly in 30 days if the secrets are passed on but the gurus would rather string their clients along to monthly subscriptions. After doing this for 5yrs, and transitioning to a full time trader, I can say BOTH WAYS WORK .✌

Price action is so subjective, and is prone to a 100% lose rate like I suffered all this time. The moment I use a good combination of indicators, then I feel more objective and relaxed. I know when a market is due for a mean reversion, I know when to exit a trade, etc. So much more relaxing. Indicator algos are objective, repeatable and automatable. Indicators tell me when a market is overstretched. Using price action makes me feel uncertain of my actions, and I lose basically 100% of the time. You never know if your subjective little zone you drew is gonna hold or not. Price action trading may look simple with naked charts and zones, but it is NOT easy. I always get caught in a market that wants to reverse on itself and break every zone it finds. It's hard to be objective with price action, and it is certainly hard to repeat and automate the process using price action.

I have been learning trading for over 2 years now. Juggling a full time job and young family. I have paid for several price action courses and, feel I can read a chart well. I have still failed to break even after this. After seeing the VP way this chimes with me, with a couple of caveats. I am a software consultant, so I think in terms of codes and algorithms, the VP way gels so well with this, the idea of boiling trading down to the ones and zeros (true and false) which you can see within minutes not 30 - 45 minutes of drawing and redrawing lines. The caveat for me is that I don't use MT4. I have written my own trading system in Python so that I can fully automate the process. This has made my indicator search a little more interesting because I can code in MQL4 (The C like language that MT4 uses) so my indicators either need to have published algorithms for the calculations or have the source code available so I can convert it into Python. Because of the framework I have, it does mean I can run a full 2 year back test in a couple of hours. This has provided some really interesting light bulb moments in it's own right because I can see how small tweaks to the indicator settings effect the results over the longer term. Thank you VP for pointing me in this direction. The road is visible now.

Hey, I have similar background, been studying this for 2 years now after I got my daughter, learned basic Python along the way, then got more serious into MQL4. I trade PA and indicators..if i have to put a % against each tool it would be PA 70% and indicators 30%..i use FA mainly to understand what is happening in the world economy and to give me some sort of a direction. As VP once said, if you know nothing about trading and take it as a gambling game with 50/50 chance of w/l, and with proper money management and psychology you might still end up making money..FA, PA and indicators are "tools" used to provide us with an "edge"..how big or small this edge is is dependant on how well your refine these tools. I am following this channel because honestly the way VP has put down his algorithm helped me tremendously in my trading to the extent that now the % has shifted to 60% PA and 40% indicators and i know for a fact that the longer i stick around the more this % will lean towards indicators. By the end of this series, i want to know the final % weightings for each tool i use in my trading.

Hi there! I'm Duan, I'm Brazilian, and I don't trade forex market, only the brazilian futures market. I've been trading for just 7 months, went through all the money wasting that most people do when they're starting to trade (you wouldn't believe the amount of trash people are selling here). After a while I started thinking exactly the way you mentioned in the video (price action is the best and most effective way of trading). Although I think PA is what fits me better, I'd lile to say that what you said about using indicators being more suited for beginners and most users makes total sense. Why should I start burning my brain out trying to understand the movements of the market (PA) when I can use indicators to facilitate the job? Anyways, congrats and thanks for the video. I still want to pursue the PA path, but I had a "click" in my mind about indicators now. ✌️

Either I don't understand price action or I don't know , BUT isn't "price action" actually still an indicator in a sense? to me is still kinda looks like an indicator only now it has a subjective element (YOU). You could automate price action patterns and make it an indicator and give you signals to buy or sell. People come to the argument that indicators are lagging and price action isn't, but you're still relying on past data in price action to make a decision how is this any different from an indicator.
