We didn’t find Lagos too rowdy! There’s a couple of street with bars that can be noisy but if you stay outside of that, it’s pretty quiet overall

You could check out our blog post for more of that information... www.worldwildhearts.com/post/lagos-in-portugal-travel-guide A car or motorcycle are definitely recommended if you want to travel more independently to other places in the Algarve. Lagos itself is small enough that you can walk anywhere! There are also boat tours to nearby caves and natural attractions. We rented a car and motorcycle for a few days and the other places we visited by local bus and train (such as Faro and the bigger cities)

Hey - Great channel. Booked Algarve. You mentioned not being able to go into the Benagil caves if travelling by boat (vs kayak). But I’ve seen videos of boats entering the cave briefly, albeit not going all the way in or being able to dock. Is this what you meant? Kayak won’t be an option due to kids I’m afraid!

The boats do enter the cave from the water, but the people aren't able to get out of the boat and stay on the beach inside the cave. We liked to spend some time inside the cave on the sand as there were some quiet moments for pictures when the boats left.

If you have to choose between Benagil Caves or the Ponta da Piedade? which one would you choose?

Tough choice! If you do a kayaking tour that goes to Benagil but also beyond to the Praia da Marinha then I would do that one! But if it's just to see Benagil, then maybe the Ponta da Piedade because it's more than one cave

Which aiport did you fly into to get to lagos, which is the closest?

We were in Lisbon before getting to the Algarve so we took the bus. A closer airport would be Faro (in the Algarve region). From Faro, you can take a train to Lagos

Yes you'll need a licence.... for some reason, Zac's driving licence wasn't accepted in Portugal...

New Portuguese law as of August 14, 2024. You cannot enter Benagil caves anymore and if you do and you’re caught it’s a €40,000 fine so best way to see the caves now is by Boat. and they do go into the caves
