🎼 TABs & Sheet Music: payhip.com/b/7WoGu Every classical guitarist knows this little piece written in the end of 19th century by Francisco Tarrega. I, as many others, always loved the beauty and simplicity of this piece. At some point, when playing it I thought "this melody is very simple and the music has very strong flavour of Romanticism, I wonder what it sounded like with more modern harmonies but with its simple beauty retained". So this little experiment started as an idea to simply reharmonize the melody and see what happens, but the more I went through it, the more changes it asked for, so I ended up reworking it into something new, yet very reminiscent of the original. Here I present to you my recomposed version of Francisco Tarrega's "Lagrima".

Love the word “recomposed”. I’m a songwriter and arranger. I needed that word! Thanks. BTW very beautiful!

Music is a living thing. We should never try to keep a musical piece fenced in with only one right way to play it. Take Bach for example. I am totally convinced that if he were alive today, he would be shaking his audience up by constantly trying new variations and experiments. But at the same time, experimenting properly takes a deep understanding and connection to the structure and soul of music that takes time to achieve. You definitely have that. I really enjoyed this.

Thank you, Dennis! Very much agree with you, it's fun trying new ways with old music, this is something classical tradition kind of lost along the way, but hopefully will rediscover.

Which is your string height above the fingerboard of the instrument? Help me please

A lot of people asking me this because video makes it looks like open strings are touching frets in my video. Just to get this out of the way - it's nothing like it looks on the video, this is just camera tricking the eye, I'm not sure why. Now to the actual question. I use Kenny Hill's measurements as a starting point (www.hillguitar.com/frequently-asked-questions-hill-guitar-support) and from there I go by how my hands feel. What I want is the balance between right feel and enough volume and you have to understand that one comes at the expense of another, so you'll have to sacrifice something. What I do is I bar six strings with index finger and see how this feels, move it around from high position to low and from this I make adjustments. If it feels right on upper frets, but wrong on 1st and 2nd fret I make individual adjustments at the nut to a particular string that feels too stiff. Don't ignore the nut when adjusting the action, but be careful with it.
