Aviation newbie here! 2 Questions 1. After about 3/4 of the video, the planes start to take off from the vertical runway rather than the horizontal, and planes start to land on the horizontal runway rather than the vertical. Why the sudden change? Is it because of changing wind direction? 2. Some planes turn back right when they are about to take off. Like the one at 0:57. Why? Technical difficulties? Timing mistakes with planes that are landing? I'm really curious and am looking forward to input, thanks y'all!

1. Runway configuration typically depends on the wind, although in NY it will also depend on the configuration of other local airports so that the arrivals and departures in the NY area stay deconflicted. 2. There are very strict rules in place for when aircraft can be on runways. In this situation (0:57), the aircraft departing RWY31 (the "horizontal runway") was likely given a clearance for an immediate takeoff but for one reason or another he could not depart fast enough (slow engine spool-up, pilot hesitation, low visibility, etc). The local controller would have had to cancel the pilot's take-off clearance in order to prevent a conflict with the aircraft arriving on RWY04.

1) ^ What he said 2) Yup you got it. The plane looks like it turned around because of a simple glitch in the ground radar. It didn't actually turn around and it was quickly fixed when the airplane started rolling. Not sure why that happens though

it resembles it yes, but i would imagine ATC also hast taxiway names for simplicity
