when is this footage from? mid 90s or early 2000s i would imagine , because italia got rid of their 742s in 2002

The first 10 seconds of video have your answer.

okay fair enough, sorry about that, very interesting video btw

It would be extremely helpful if you put the description of the video in the description so we can read the description properly! The problem of putting it on the video is that we need to go back and forth all the time to check what is going to happen.

This Video was good but I just would never be able to concentrate,with the constant chatter,if this young man gets through this training its just Hats off to him,this has to be one of the most responsible jobs that anyone could choose.i think they don't get enough recognition for what they do. Thankyou VASAviation.

ademar9988 No, you do not hold the pressure!, you use all the rules and regulations that apply and get on with your job. If You "hold the pressure", you will not last long at this job.

Agnes T Yes, it is quite noisy in the background. Let us say it is the culture. I have spent hours at New York Center, lots of controllers, all doing their bit. It sounded like a beehive, just a light buzzing of voices. It was a pleasure to see that. Loud voices are an ingredient of panic. As a controller you speak, calmly, to the point, and exude confidence in what you are doing.
@taraann77537 жыл бұрын
Ruben Villanueva I like what you say about loud voices,you're so right and you can get it in all walks of life,I have watched videos on KZbin of AT Control in Dublin London and other countries and found them to be very professional and exactly as you described,this video was good but seemed very busy,that's why I was wondering how a young lad being taught this responsible job was able to concentrate at all.

hats off to these legends that work these old scopes. I'm glad to be on the new stuff.

Where was the close call? Looked like lots of traffic in a combined space. Good vectors and speed control here kept everything legally separated.

Wow, and that was less than ten minutes.Kennedy Steve sure made it look easy.

Is it just me or does this seem a bit chaotic?
@EwingTaiwan7 жыл бұрын
Ni Pr I finally figured out that they're trying to fit planes into a left pattern until the last minute of the video.
@rubenvillanueva27537 жыл бұрын
Ni Pr , it appears chaotic, this is just single runway operation. He has two holding over TAQ, and he is bringing some in from the right. Just a matter of feeding them into the funnel, one from the right then one from the left. Maintain lateral separation, speed adjustments, and vertical separation, this process just goes on and on. Trainee, is keeping up with his traffic, but I could sense the trainer, was getting concerned.

they are italian, what did u expect?
@VASAviation7 жыл бұрын
This is a trainee controller on a single runway configuration with some planes coming from both sides. That's why a supervisor is standing there.

Close call? Just some slight vectoring, and lots of speed assignments.

Actually, Italy (Roma ACC) was the first Area Control Center to stop using paper strips, changing to radar labels And today ENAV (Italian ANSP) is one of the leader for ATC tools improvement 😉

atc still uses the same screens because: 1(the green color is not hard on the eyes), and 2(the old tube equipment they use is not as susceptible to an emp(electro-magnetic pulse)). plus if it works great, why change?

@umbertogennari88387 жыл бұрын
uff this video is soooooo old. Alitalia still have the 747 and the screen are still Cathode ray tube. No close call at all. Just some vectoring. This is backstage of every atc. You should see if you put some bad weather in this scenario.
@VASAviation7 жыл бұрын
As old as 1995.

The 747 was the Air Yemen, not the Alitalia

Type in, LIRF charts, on Google. A good way to get charts for flight simulation use. Airport (icao identifier) charts.

@rubenvillanueva27537 жыл бұрын
Frank Hollein Yes Frank, it is called "making a string of Pearls", sit below the flight path at any major airport, night time is best, and you can see that "string of pearls" coming together.
@rubenvillanueva27537 жыл бұрын
Frank Hollein , yes, 3 nm between planes, piece of cake. It only turns to poop, if someone blows a tyre on landing, and the runway gets closed. Then you take that long string of pearls, straight ahead, and bring them back, if you have another runway available. If not, then you take them to the holding points, all the time getting altitude separation before they are stacked up. And start over again.
