"Only 4 more laps to go. I just gotta hang on!" ..... BAM !!! :) .. Sorry you crashed but I'm glad you are ok. I've crashed too many times to admit to. :) Looks like maybe a 30% gas to 80% lean rear traction loss highside in that lefty. I know that cost you some $. Superbikes are big and heavy and fast! Thanks for the cam view...shows what the racer is seeing...a lot of leaning and things going by you very quickly.
@raynic11735 жыл бұрын
Not to be argumentative, but the rider does not see the lean angles that way, the rider is usually keeping their head level. But it is cool to see the on board views.

Wow this was so great to watch and listen to your breakdown. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. I am curious why you would run without traction control? Is it because the stock traction control on the S1000RR is too restrictive on the track?
@irnieracing6 жыл бұрын
yes, the "OEM ECU" traction control is very limiting, slowing me down. On my 2016 BMW S1000RR's I have the "BMW Race ECU" which opens manual control for the traction control, among other things.

For your début I'd say that was a fantastic start. Your lap times were fairly consistent and your overall pace was good. The tyres seemed to be dropping off quickly at the end. Maybe the compound wasn't quite right for Laguna.

Great riding and commentary Irnie! But is that lean angle meter in the middle of the screen accurate? Because the landscape appears to be tilting a lot more than the indicated angle.
@irnieracing9 жыл бұрын
Rohit Koli yeah, the lean angle sensor failed.

Marcel Irnie That's probably bcoz of the lateral acceleration. Accelerometers only work properly when stationary.

@rugbug10 жыл бұрын
To me, it seem you were under powered and tried to compensate with the corners. I noticed you kept up with the group in corners, but coming out and up they took off. I guess you felt cutting the TC off would give you a better edge. Perhaps a med compound, but I know you love that soft rear. What compound do you use for front ? And Damn good job for a stock bike. I'm impressed. I also saw you run in person at Barber GNF. Good job man.

@raynic11735 жыл бұрын
Cool vid bro, I think your gearing is a wee bit off though, if corrected it would be good for a few tenths at least, there's a few locations where you are kind of coasting the rpm before getting on the brakes and from the sound of it, your getting beyond the powerband or preferred rpm , just an observation. Good luck.
@dumbluck062910 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know what kind of cameras hes using and what kind of software for the live speed, lean angle ect??

I do. The Drift Ghost or Ghost S, and my GPS Lap timer Speedangle.com collects the data, which I overlay to video with dashware.net
@zrouth9 жыл бұрын
Question about trail breaking, it looks like you are at about 80% brake when you are about 60% leaned over or more, is that sensor accurate because it feels like if that were accurate you would have tucked the front a lot? Please respond to this!
@irnieracing9 жыл бұрын
zRouth the sensor is not accurate. It is based from G-force with the lap timer. There are no actual brake pressure switch sensors.
@zrouth9 жыл бұрын
thats what i thought, thanks so much.
@JohnSmithExtra10 жыл бұрын
Lots of comments so i don't know if anyone has asked before, what datalogger/telemetry are you using?
@irnieracing10 жыл бұрын
Speedangle data recorder. The lean angle sensor was faulty and replaced later.
@JohnSmithExtra10 жыл бұрын
Marcel Irnie I don't see information about how the data logger gets the braking, throttle and engine rpm. How are you getting it? Thanks!
@irnieracing10 жыл бұрын
John Smith I'm not getting any input from the bike. It is all based on G-force. It would be great to have a brake sensor, and have the data from the bike ECM collected.
@JohnSmithExtra10 жыл бұрын
Oh, I agree, I thought you had that information pulled out from the ECU too because I saw braking and throttle percentage in the video telemetry. Have you tried the AIM Solo DL? It hooks into the CAN Bus and has built in GPS. It doesn't have braking percentage though.

Probably a stupid question but why didn't you have traction and wheelie control ?
@andrewrogers165210 жыл бұрын
The stock TC and Anti wheelie control that the Bmw comes with is probably too intrusive as it wasn't designed for racing. I'd imagine systems that will work well in top level racing are very expensive and require lots of computing. Pro teams have guys who's sole job is to make those electronics work.
@simz0410 жыл бұрын
Its not a stupid question, i was wondering the same thing, S1000RR comes with a stock TCS.
@andrewrogers165210 жыл бұрын
Just to add I wasn't trying to infer that your question was stupid, sorry if it came across that way, I was merely trying to answer.
@irnieracing10 жыл бұрын
andrewrogers OEM Traction Control is useless for racing at the Pro Level. It is too intrusive, and has a "on/off" effect. It needs to be more progressive.

@foolius44618 жыл бұрын
There's a big difference between a quality race tc and what comes stock on bikes. If the other bikes are using tc, it's probably a magneti marelli or similar. Edit: I literally just heard him say they're on magneti marelli as I hit reply lol. So yeah, *much* better than what comes stock, which can slow you down at race pace, so it's usually just turned off.
