Lahaina, Maui Hawaii Ghost Town Bike Ride April 3rd, 2020

The busy tourist town of Lahaina, Maui is a ghost town with the COVID-19 stay-at-home order issued by Hawaii Governor Ige. Erica and I ventured out for a quick bike ride to check out Lahaina, Maui. It was a weird bike ride without the people on the street.
We started at the Shops at 505 and headed down historical Front Street heading north to Baby's Beach. Along the way, a few shops have boarded up their windows like the Pacific Whale Foundation, Volcom, and some jewelry shops. The only businesses open are a few ABC Stores and Whalers General. We doubled back to show the shut shops and then walked the closed Lahaina Banyan Court with the 16-trunk banyan tree.
Traveling to Hawaii is not currently safe, in light of COVID-19. The island is doing a great job protecting residents, but traveling here as a visitor puts everyone at risk. The spread of the virus due to travel coupled with an insufficient quantity of doctors means you should stay put and not take your Hawaiian vacation, for now.
We are social distancing in our home in Maui, Hawaii. My 2-year-old son Henry, wife Erica, and I are following the stay-at-home order issued by Hawaii Governor David Ige, doing what we can to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

I moved to Maui in 1975 and left 20 years later. Your video reminds me of the Lahaina I knew. Front street hand a barber shop, a real local bar with a pool table at the corner of Lahainaluna Rd & Front St, a mom and pop market, the Lahaina Grill ( where Bubba's is now), the Blue Max and many days in off-season when Front St looked a lot like your video. We flew from Maui back home to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on March 9, 2020 less than a month before this video was filmed. We were lucky to experience a normal Hawaiian vacation before COVID-19 changed everything for nearly 2 years. My family became fans of this channel shortly after we left to remind us of those good times and to encourage us to maybe return someday. so good for the real locals that grew up here from the 60s and 70s.they get to witness lahiaina .how it was peaceful.not about money money.my dad would drive every week special on the weekend .to take my mom to ota san mango stand.the best mango seed ever.alot of timer talking story down nagasakos.alot fishers would be down malas.alot of opelu and nabeta.ono stuff.enjoy what it is.cause tomorow might be different.i know saw this change withen a blink.born raised never ever been to the mainland and dont care if i go.mahalo

I moved at the begining of 22 from Houston, and this reminded of seeing Houston shutdown for hurricane Harvey.... But I'm glad it isn't like that anymore and I work at Fish co. Come see us sometime lol

Hi, Lahaina is a very specific place in hawaii for me ,different than others, more like old european small town. I visited is almost 2 yr ago and definitelly be back . Baby beach , front street, banyan tree, I love it . This place has a soul . I know what I am telling , I am from Poland originally , from Cracow , cultural capitol of europe. See you again after this hard time . I am living in chicago so 9 hr fligth and I am there
