Why were the car gas tanks not exploding ? Why did blue cars in middle of burned cars not burn ? In Eric West's drone on August 10 at beginning shows mome spared with plastic kid toys (blue) not burned only hundred feet from burnt house ? How about Eric West going on his motorcycle and finding blue t-shirts ? Now military has blocked all ways in or out, many still missing. 😢

Their parents have done an excellent job raising them to be the way they are. We need more young people in the world like these two. Leading by example is very powerful. What can we do to help? These brave young men did not cave in fear, or think only of themselves. They remained level headed, didn't panic, but responded, not reacted. They are to be lauded, as well as the parents. The father's response to the realization they were concerned for him, and the extra burden they carried because of that obviously was a jolt of reality which hit him hard.

I have no words. These boys said it all. As a mother myself, and a California mountain resident half my life, having had close calls with wildfire, this is so heartbreaking to hear/watch. I'm glad they and theirs survived. Mainlanders such as myself need to understand, this is a major damn catastrophe. Also, many Americans don't realize, even though the islands are usually a pleasantly temperate place, the Pacific Ocean is always colder than one can imagine. I know, because as a former Californian, I've spent time in its waters just for fun and enjoyment-- and without a wetsuit, 5-8 hours in average 50-ish degree waters is unfathomable to me. I do remember, if you're enjoying yourself and having a good time and have the option to get out and warm up, one still becomes somewhat numb after just a couple hours without a wetsuit. The people who had to escape into the water had no wetsuits. For HOURS. You can see the trauma in Milo's face especially. But this family is resilient, and though the entire population that was affected by this disaster, is as well. The survivors will make it through, they'll rebuild. But the terror, trauma, and sense of loss for the lost loved ones and friends is going to take a lifetime to heal. Thank you, Noah, for continuing to speak to the media. This particular video right here is the best interview and firsthand account I have seen. I hope the rest of the United States will see and hear and understand that this was not "just another wildfire".

These two boys are very smart. They knew that even if they could not see where the fire was it was a very dangerous situation and it was best to leave. And they had the sense to take a few things with them. And their mom took important documents with her. And then to have the presence of thought to wet their hair and to do and say things to help others and to remain calm. They are smarter than all those in charge of local emergency management. Great kids and parents!

Another thing is that the Big Island of Hawaii lies between Maui and hurricane Dora at was passing far to the south. There are two tall mountains (volcanoes) on the Big Island that block all kinds of weather (wind/rain) from reaching us on Kauai, most northern island. Why did the Big Island only have a few much smaller brush fires and not even close to the wind speeds that maui had? Looks like most everyone has their eyes open here and the ones who don’t, never will. It’s now time to do whatever it is insure these events never happen again to anyone else.

@JonathanPetramala He was providing for his future by preserving his past. I can not say what, other than my purse, that I would grab in the escape to save my life. To me, that is the humanity of each individual. What, besides our family and pets, do we need to hold on to? ID, cash, a piece of jewelry, letters and pictures. And then something so personal that it can only belong to one individual, to explain their identity, where they came from, how long they were there, how well they did there ( to give proof of their capabilities going forward) and their history in the world they have to abandon? I think his framed diploma was most of that. His video history of this event should go in the Library of Congress. That's a real possibility. It can become part of that historical record. Please help him do that 🙏🏼.
