hey @LAHover I've been wanting to put one of these motors on my Super73 S2 Ebike. Any suggestions? Where I would be mounting it is flat there wound that be an issue. Also was wondering about the back crank one side has the exsiting chain an the other has disc brake.

The gas bike community has been the most welcoming and helpful enthusiast community I've ever become a part of and in less than 4-5 months I've learned how to do port work match exhaust and intakes to ports balance my cranks and so much more. @@LAHover i had the 3rd gen motor where they used aluminum shims for the rod spacing, i didnt know and it fell apart grenading my motor lol but they got rid of those shims after 4th gen, i think now its on what the 8-9th gen of these motors? I miss my first motor which was a 2nd gen, it had perfect port mods and it screamed, did over 40mph with it with just porting and a pipe, no reeds or stuffing etc.

+1 for the speed warning. I had a motor mount stud fail which caused the chain to snap and wrap around my rear wheel and totaled it ( at around 20 mph. The wheel locked up and i slid around a bit before coming to a stop. I pedaled back home. I can't even imagine that happening at 50mph lol

@@braydenhancock3907 i snapped the bolt and couldn't extract it the 2nd time it happened. I used hose clamps wrappes around the clutch adjustment ( motor side ) and another one atrached to a giant d ring that went around the cilinder head. It worked great and held up. You need to replace the hose clamps once a month or so due to cracks caused by engine vibration. I eventually scrapped the engine because the rod snapped but that system worked for a good 4 months ~1000 miles

Check what gauge wire is used in the 2 & 3 wire magneto coils, how many wraps,if they use varnish coating if you could diy make or repair one fairly easy.

Here's my theory: 2 strokes, by Nature is fickle critters, especially these cheap, Chinese items that have room for improvements in just about every aspect, and to nail every one would be a remarkable achievement indeed. Me personally, I'm of the school of thought that I should just leave well enough alone...I put an 'HP' Carb on one bike, and can't for the life of me get that thing to idle, although it pulls like a tractor, gobs of low end torque...but she just. won't. IDLE! Then I have another bike, another Zeda80, stone stock with the 'NT' Carb, that actually ran great with the stock #70 jet, and I took the needle and bottomed it out, and oh-my-GOD what a difference! No more '4-stroking', although it is still in break-in, but just resetting the needle cured a common issue with these at break-in. I DO have a spare YD100 motor I want to try to mess with Porting, etc., we shall see...

Sounds like a rage fueled, karate sensei chainsaw. I love it. Seriously, amazing work. Got it revving so high and clean under throttle response and so smooth and buttery under idle. Just great. BTW, I'm like 90% sure that the kit you used is one of many that is actually a 66cc posing as an 80. I *could* be wrong, but it looks almost identical to the "Wai Danie" 2 stroke that I previously bought myself. If so, it makes this build even more impressive. Spot on about the NT. IME, it's built to just give decent power across a broad RPM range on pretty much any 2 stroke. I honestly believe that those who say the NT sucks either A) don't know how to jet and needle set their carb or B) just have beefy ass engines that genuinely warrant a flat carb slide on the higher end of size. the NT has been around since the 30's for a reason. It's the classic, definitive reliable, versatile carb. Besides, I honestly think that cylinder polishing, porting and exhaust optimisation are all way more important for making power than the carb. EDIT: It looks like the Firestorm Zeda 80 has a taller cylinder assembly than I first thought. Assuming a piston stroke length higher than I thought too, then it's a genuine 80cc. TBF, the kit overall has a lot of obviously better quality parts than average. Based on this vid and my googling of it, I'd be tempted at current market prices.* *If I didn't have a 100cc trail bike build already in progress.

The idle issue you're having is something I've also experienced. In my case it was an air leak where the carb attaches to the reed valve. I couldn't get the rubber hose and hose clamps to stop leaking. As an experiment I used hot glue and tape to seal it up and had no problems idling. I also have to use a 40 pilot with a 16mm carb and the spark plug is very black and wet, but if I leaned it out any it doesn't idle. That's why I ordered a reed valve that I can simply clamp an nt carb to without the hose clamp nonsense.

ok, i'll put some of my theory as well as some knowledge that i have. The idle issue could be either a small idle jet or an air leak, the trenched cylinder does not matter. A windowed piston is preferred over a trench for lenght and flow reasons that are too complicated to explain in short. A windowed piston can be made even with an 8mm hole, the important part is that it must be bigger than the equivalent area of the third transfer and there has not to be sharp spot on the inside and the outside of the piston. Try with some sandpaper. Timing: the exhaust duration is too low for that transfer: on reed you should be at total transfer duration + 50 degrees (should be + 60 but with that value you will have less mid and no low) The main reason why reed valve exist is for smoothness of operation, because it adjust automatically the intake timings and the intake size to match the engine request. That can be translated in more smoothness. The piston port intake system is better for atomization and power, but lack on everything else. The reason behind the jump of power over the piston port is due to the third transfer that improve the flow from carter to cylinder because 3 is better than 2. The 2 wrong thing that you did are: boost port higher than transfer port and stuffing the case. Onto the second: cranckcase volume on those bike is lower than a original minarelli so there is no reason in doeing that because a smaller cranck volume is good for low rpm and the opposite is true for high rpm. Usually it should be 1.5 to 1.8 times bigger than the cylinder volume and on those engine it is not, it's more like 1.3 so no need to stuffing it. The boost port height respect to transfer port height is determinant for the character of the engine: below the transfer port = better torque before the exhaust start working so better low and mid torque; at the transfer port level = neutral response to the pipe; higher than transfer port = more top end power. Hope that this can be useful and please, use a cnc head or that engine will overheat!

Too much fuel intake as you thought. I put the small reed for a regular 40mm intake jug. Use a double window piston, and then try tuning that carb. I don’t port my intake. I only port my exhaust 1mm top and sides. I get a little bit better bottom end and it idles better. But the more you go for top speed over mid and low end, that’s exactly what you get. Oh and all the reed does is prevent blowback into the carb on the compression stroke. Helps with compression and gives better air fuel mix.

I think case stuffing a piston port will give a snappy throttle response, and boost your top end speed as well. But I have not tried it yet. here are the bits I use with my Dremel Stylo+, They work great www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YBQCWBW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Would like to see an experiment video with this pipe in particular. Would like to know if you could find a smaller id tube to step down the stinger's Inner Diameter. I've ran this pipe and from what I learned stinger length does practically nothing. I've noticed mopeds have a smaller I.D. before the silencer and their pipe's work really well with a ported motor. Changing the runner length on this pipe WILL effect performance from my findings though.

There are pipe calculator apps and you can punch in your timing numbers, displacement, rpm and HP goals and hit enter and watch the pipe dimensions change. I punched in 5hp and 6000 rpm and then 10hp and 9000rpm and the stinger changed quite a bit, along with belly diameter, cone diameter and header length. The other crazy thing is the exhaust gas temp went through the roof to get more ho at a lower rpm.

My primary question is are you compelled to fit a front disc brake when hitting 50mph on your mini crotch rocket? I bet the answer is yes. As far as low rpm torque and drivability are concerned, since two stroke engines operate on the principle of resonant frequency, the solution to your problem may be to make an intake tract with a three inch long neck to create more of a swirl and vacuum effect similar to the human windpipe. When used in conjunction with your carburetor and reed valve, you'll be stunned how much smoother and accelerative your two wheeled contraption will become. It should restore drivability and prove to be more street able and user friendly. Don't be surprised if you make an extra horse in the process either. Please wear a motorcycle grade helmet and a jacket just in case you become unseated. Anything over 25 mph can kill you if you collide with an immovable object. 🤓 Happy motoring.

i will be building my 1st gas bike. over thanksgiving. just want to mention that those spoke rims could really let go at 50 mph. i am going to be happy going 25 mph. but thinking of getting mag rims if they exist and can be included in the build. speed is fun, but please be carefull you guys. yes i am old and whiped out on a harley going only 20 mph and i was a skilled rider. still have scar on my thumb, it hurt at 20 mph.

Hi ive got a question...well below your knowledge im sure...1st let me say i used to race/modify early stand up jet ski's pre reed valve...i used to take a kawasaki 440cc, have the crank trued and balanced...use a lightendaluminum flywheel, drive shaft and ss lightened prop with aftermarket ocean pro jet pump and dual nozzle..BUT I used a 550cc top end...dual ring pistons..decked 550 head...OP,westcoast, and others. I liked piston port as it was moreforgiving as long as I left enuff to hold the rings in on exhaust side porting...I also liked a kein 42mm or mekuni 44 mm carb with idle plate removed and pivot holes plugged.. I blocked off my fuel return line so all gas was available and helped idle...i forget the jetsbut is N/A for bike motors...lost the 2 stroke reservoir and only did premix...Now as far as porting a piston port motor, you need to have some to play with or a stencil kit to port it right...WHEN I went to 550 cc reed engines the pedals mist the 02 and fuel and u get a better burn, idle, and throttle response...this was the same for my 650's and 750's...they ran much better with reeds. Anyways I bought a Genesis ONYX or OneX as name changed..its 1 speed beach cruiser, aluminum frame, 29" wheels... I know there are vids on you tube showing it converted to 2 stroke, and 4 stroke motors. But the only brake is a rear coaster brake...dont want that..i want the rear freewheel and not where you just take out the centrifugal pads.. I want like bmx freewheel...and since mine didnt come with any front brakes, I want to add either rim brakes like 10 speeds and mountain bikes (problem is no hole in fork and 26" brakes are common and 29" fat tire are not as easy or cheap to find..Also want brakes in rear after going freewheel..also no mounting point btw...so was wondering IF i can set up freewheel and disk brakes front and rear AND still be able to add engine kit and drive sprocket. or where to get a freewheel hub and if i have to add rim brakes to the 29" fat tire/rim Do you have any suggestions? not looking to spend a ton of money

These motors seem rather forgiving for lazy guys like me. I can only imagine what you can get out of them with higher standards. They are fun though, if you have the knowledge to work on motors in the $1,000+ range, you would probably have a blast squeezing lemonade out of these little toy motors :)

@MrJasenstewart97

His seeutek is his longest running motor from what I remember, it's a great motor for a beginner but with any motor you want to pull the cylinder off and check for casting defects. I got one of the newer cdhpower super pk80's and not only were there no real defects, I didn't have to do much port work besides widening the ports 2mm each side and I had to raise the roof on my exhaust by .4mm and it was almost spot on with the port timing LAhover had on his motor

So I have a 29 inch huffy millennial , with a ridgeyard 49-50cc motor on it , stock everything as it is I can probably get it up to 32 mph before its a little sketchy, I don't really feel safe without taking the wheels in to have all the spokes tightened and that kinda stuff, the way I run it it does a better job then my friends80cc he got at a garage sale which honestly needed proper assembly to begin with and it would've been better, but the question is should I be worried about anything other than the wheels I probably only need to go between 8-18 mph on the roads but if there's a way to increase efficiency, cooling , I could use some tips or upgrade suggestions for that I've been stopping every 30 minutes for 20-30 minutes because I'm afraid to run it to long , I've had no issues except the hole in the sprocket for mounting was never centered when made which caused me to compensate with spring tensioners, is this time limit fear needless now the engine is run in as long as I attend to the spokes and keep everything else in check I basically use it as an assisted pedal drive, and I'm in Daytona so everything's flat

I have a theory that the reed intakes work much like a single or duel plain intake like on a 6 or 8 cylinder auto engine for carbs that are set up for more air/fuel ratio high performance. Also is it possible to set up these 2 strokes with a venting device from the crank case?
