Well sometimes they do that, other times they'll use the original melody in a different key or do a different arrangement of the song - in general they often seem to treat pop songs like classical music in a way, which is interesting. Not really. In 1995 this was already looking like a home-made avi file made by a few guys in DOS 3D Studio. You can see the default objects and materials all over it. Although it's very nice, of course.
