I live on the Scottish coast and lube the cables every 6 months, all my trikes a stored indoors.

Yep, you've got to keep those cables lubed, especially in areas with more moisture.

@@dancurran8977 I'd use Finish Line DRY Teflon Bicycle Chain Lube. You can pick it up at our shop.
