I don’t think her character was portrayed as weak at all but I did understand her renigging on marrying William. Heck, none of his family was there. Yvonne never met his side of his family nor did we see him interact with hers. William lied about his father being dead and his mother failed to accept his decision to be with Yvonne. He was a mama’s boy with a mean, narcissistic father and lesbian sister. I can only imagine the different directions and plots the writers tried to create. I wonder if she’d play the role of a person lacking in character if it were a biblical character like Jezebel, Delilah, Herodias, Job’s wife, or Lilith? It’s a role and to tell a story you need a spectrum of “human” behavior; good, bad, stong and weak etc The character Yvonne could have eventually been given a character arch that expressed redemption and grace like a real life person.
@wildflowersun5840 Жыл бұрын
@ Anthony Dixon. Very Valid point! However, I am not a Christian, believe in Karma (covers every: intention,action, thought of self...). This is true. I met her once a long time ago at my church and she said firsthand that one of the reasons she left is because the writers wanted her to do a storyline of her sharing William with Lynn, say lines that suggest that they were engaging in threesomes (ofc it wouldn't be shown but suggesting it to the audience) and for it to develop into Yvonne getting a big crush on Lynn and discovering that she's bisexual. That's the sexually explicit part she is referring to. They refused to even change the script a little bit. She said that's where she drew the line and told them she wasn't going to say that or promote it and left. Girlfriends did promote a lot of lesbianism/bisexuality if u have seen the show.
