My niece quit drinking after hearing this, for her five year old daughter. The boy sees daddy drinking whiskey and that is how he sees him. Whiskey Colored.......

Dude. The kid associated his dad with drinking so he asked for a whiskey coloured crayon. Could also be dad was drunk all the time. Your wife isn’t missing anything. Perhaps he was going to draw dad but because he’s always drunk he’s going to colour him in whiskey coloured.
