This song resonates with me, maybe more differently than others' perspectives. I'm have been in a relationship for 8 yrs now and it took me this long to realize he is a narcissist. You know the emotional abuse is there. I can do all of these things and more as sweet Lainey has said but yet I'm told I'm worthless and don't know jack sh!t. I've bitten my tongue for a long time. Now I have finally spoken up and I guess I'm still wrong. The fool doesn't appreciate me for all the times I've been there for him, taken care of him. This song has given me a bit of strength to find that courage to leave. Remember I'm nothing without him. I used to be a strong person but he broke me down to where I only feel insecurities. I wanna be happy. I don't want to live in this misery for someone who only cares about himself. I've became an enabler, it's hard to break from it once you've been there for as long as I have. Please pray for me to find the courage. I want to be free.... *Edit* 08/16/24.... I left him in Oct 2023. It was the best decision I made. I'm so much happier.

My brother sent me this song, he told me it reminds him of me. I do know a few things a man ought to know. But I couldn't save my marriage, I did try, but it doesn't work when there's a third person involved. I still can use a shot gun and catch a fish, fix my roof, hitch a trailer and other things. I could never chase after whats leaving the driveway.

I’ve listened to this song so many times. It affects me deeply as I try and figure it out. I feel like, I know I could have been that guy. When you have no work and get an eviction letter, you think of your wife, your kids, and how to keep them off the street. When you do that you realize that there really isn’t much you won’t do for them. I understand perfectly what this guy was doing, and maybe why she knows the things a man oughta know. He’s not there anymore, did something wrong and now he’s gone, so it’s on her to do it all now. That’s how this song hits me. Could be different for others, but it’s so well done, an all time favorite for sure

This song brigs me to my knees. I did not serve in any of the services. I have 17 people in 3 generations of my family who have. 1 did 30 years in service. Another between active duty and air national guard she did 41years and 8 months. My family is every color in the rainbow. We lost one when he came home from the the burden he cam home with. People forget that as a nation the US is very young. Yes we have made mistakes along the way. Show me another country that hasn't made them you can't. No system is perfect. We stood up and punched back hard after 9/11 . We had to or far worse would have been coming our way. So many think that they are victims. Life isn't fair. My papa always told me when I said something wasn't fair. My girl the only fair in this life is the county fair. We need to remember our psst or we are destined to repeat it. Scars are the metals we are given for a life well lived. We need to find our strength and take a hold of it.

@@johnmazzatelli2051 ah. One of you people. Well, the dictatorship that is Russia is currently attacking Ukraine. If they succeed, it makes America look very bad. As if America can’t or won’t protect its allies. Now, our allies give us our influence. We practically control the world through them because they know that if they are on our side then they are generally safe. But if the Reds win…well everyone is gonna feel less safe under the US. That weakens us globally. Besides, I do not want those communist bastards to show us up on the world stage.

Let us make songs of how to support and respect our husbands instead of making all men out to look cold and emotionally distant. The man in this video just wasn't a good man to put it simply but that is not an accurate representation of all men. Sometimes it is in fact the wife that orginates the trouble in the marriage. Let's sing about father's being strong patriarchs and mothers being submissive under their loving care ❤️ God wants to see all families thrive and he says he hates divorce. Couples make eternal vows that should never be broken frivolously. Stick by your man's side and show great love for your woman and cherish her. She is valuable to God as you are a brings to the table a different set of strengths that are necessary. Praise Jah!
@JohnScigulinsky9 ай бұрын
Dude, this video literally shows the woman being supportive, saying "it's not about the money". And then the guy, crushed under the societal pressure of "being a strong patriarch" goes and does something completely idiotic, throwing his life away and traumatizing his family. Your comment is not only completely off topic but misses the entire point of why some men end up cold and emotionally distant. That's because as a society, we treat men as robots; Don't show emotions. Be a man. Men don't cry. Men don't get close to each other and don't talk about their issues. Women are supposed to be submissive as opposed to a partner who is capable of helping when the going gets tough. Small wonder men who are brought up like this end up in crises that they don't know how to get out of - because they're taught that seeking help makes them weak.

I believe Lainey was trying to say the guy was impulsive with his reaction to his job loss and made a mistake that his wife and two children will be damaged by for years. He didn't include his wife in the decision making and she was willing to make sacrifices and go through whatever it took to solve their problems and keep the family together. Some people run when the going gets tough in multiple situations such as illness of a spouse , illness of a child , or just plain hard times. People that are selfish and impulsive like this do more harm than good , and generally damage their families happiness and security. I am proud of Lainey for creating songs like this that make peple think about the choices they make.

Genuine question here... "When you really love a woman you don't let her go". Well what happens if you give your all, you stay for every fight you devote 100% of yourself to her physically, spiritually, and emotionally and after 5.5 years she decides she wants to move on? You let her go because if you love something... Set it free. For years every fight she would say then "break up with me", and I refused to give up. I feel so betrayed.

Sadly enough in these days this does happen. Thats why I tell people to be grateful for what you have while you have it. Don't hold onto something or someone who isn't holding onto you. Love is a hard thing to deal with. Love isn't always sunshine and rainbows there's gonna be hard parts to love and when your loving someone that means that you don't always have to support there wrong doings.

I didn't grow up with country music but I really liked your song, thank you so much! Every day I hope that each man realizes that the upbringing we had was not ideal, we have to listen to what our partner tells us and treat her as we wanted our mother to be treated. Enough with the suffering, life is only one, long live love.

I hope y'all are back together & working these speed bumps out together..I wish nothing but the best, I know how hard this is for both of u..She suffers just as u do, it's emotional not chemical, but both are painful & affects the relationship ..See addiction runs deep thru my family roots & I struggle with addiction myself, my husband as well..He's been gone for 3 mo.& left me to take care of everything myself, financially too.. Thinks I'm cheating but Meth Psychosis is real & his delusions seem real to him about me cheating..The Crystal Meth + IV drug use has been a path of destruction thru our marriage..Yet when he's not using he takes it all back, cant say sorry enough to me, realizes how he did me when he was messed up & cant believe I'm with him.. I'm making 1 last attempt to try & help fix this situation we are going thru .. I'm tired of crying & being home by myself all the time...I'm depressed & I can't keep going on like this..We quit doing anything that brings us apart..Pray for us he is the most wonderful guy when he's not using & he's done it before he can put it down again... Thank you💙
