I appreciate the work put into this tutorial but after several tries I had to rage quit. I don't understand how people manage to wrap their hair so smoothly and tightly around the rod (or rope - I used a rod). My hair got tangled all the time, didn't want to seperate into sections and the strands got kinda poofy at the roots when I lifted them, so it was impossible to wrap them nice and tightly. All that while the rod constantly tried to flee from my head, I got tired of biting it and clips just got in the way. I guess I'm just a hopeless case when it comes to hairstyling.

oh, a good tip is to comb you hair very well before, and then use a leave in conditioner that will keep your hair smooth and a bit damp, and then you can start wrapping and doing the sectioning.

Have tried this a few times and I love this method! It is so much more comfortable to sleep in! I will say the curls seem a bit bouncier when I do the satin rod instead of the robe tie. But I liked the robe tie curls as well since they were tighter and I could brush them out!

Maybe bc my hair is thicker/coarser/frizzy but I find it the most annoying tyring to pick up the robe tie enough to get the hair pieces under without a bunch of extra loose hair trying to lift up with the robe tie. Going to order a satin heatless curling rod & hopefully that helps

Ahhh! Yeah. Layers are tricky! You could always do one robe or rod on each side of your head and wrap going back! Not sure if that would help or not ❤

I have tried with a scarf and rods and nothing seems to work. My hair is straight and coarse and it was cut into a shag. A shag is a cut with a lot of layers. I'm trying to grow out the layers. Your hair is beautiful no matter how you style it.

Personal preference! They both were equally good. Robe tie gives you a little bit curlier hair. The rod gives you a little more volume but the curls are a little more relaxed. Both are stunning!

​​​@@LaineyMarieBeautyIt did! My hair is very hard to get to hold a curl so I put some hairspray on it right away, and it was super pretty! It was very comfortable to sleep in, and quick to do. It was 3am and I just wanted to sleep so it was a bit more damp than it should have been (so they fell out a little bit when I took it out but that's my fault and I knew it would happen), and I forgot to put in hair oil (which I usually do after a shower). I doubled up the robe tie to avoid too tight of ringlets, my tie is thinner than yours. I really liked how this method causes the curls to go _away from the face_ in both directions, properly split in the middle. When you do the criss-cross wrap method on the side of the head (for back sleepers) it causes the curls on the back of your head to go _towards_ your face-which I don't like the look of. You don't get that effect with this method and it still keeps it nice and secure while sleeping! Bonus! I'll definitely do this again!! Thank you for the tutorial!

I repeated this method a few times, with varying levels of success. The key is to make sure you either have very barely damp hair, or allow lots of time to air dry. I found the best success with having my hair mostly dry, blow drying it from wet, applying my hair oil as usual. Doing the unicorn wrap as directed. Then blow drying it right away, on slow air. I had the least success when I would unwrap it and the areas under the robe tie would still be damp. Sleep. In the morning/just before taking it out, blow dry again on slow warm air to finish drying any damp spots you still feel. Usually it has loosened a little overnight so I am able to dry under the robe tie a little better. I am still experimenting with the size of sections to take

Great idea, need to try this! As to brushing out your curls, don't know what others have said, but as for me, if I brush my curls they are instantly *gone,* killed, as if there never were any 😄 So I just can't do that, but I do have very straight, fine hair that does not hold curl well, even in the best of cases.

usually my hair is a tangly mess, but i think the leave-in conditioner helped! I can see why people dont like when i brush my curls then Lol!! thanks for watching!
