This is great! I think it's good to have an awareness on why certain things look one way on you and another way on someone else, but you should use that knowledge to bring out your personality through your looks rather than just following arbitrary body type rules.

My tip is - trendy makeup, hairstyles/cuts, nail polish and (sometimes) are more inexpensive ways to try trends. I've tried not to buy trendy clothing items so my clothing life cycles are longer but the other stuff lets you still experiment more accesibly

The ironing/steaming thing is huge for me. I think I look a lot more polished every day, but also, I find that spending that extra bit of time every week taking care of my clothes makes me appreciate them more and shop less. Like the more time you spend laundering, mending, ironing your clothes, the more you value them!

Two pieces of advice!! Dont sleep on tailored clothing. For some clothes you like but maybe you think dont quite suit you, consider getting them tailored. An adjustment to the waist or hem can make a world of a difference. If youre not sure, try pinning pieces you like before changing permanently. Also, clothing snd shoe care is important for longevity. At the end of every season, i make sure those pieces are cleaned and properly stored.

This is super specific; but the best fashion advise I got was from another creator called Hannah Louise Poston who has a series on fashion - she’s super eclectic and of the ‘dress for your comfort/how you want to feel’ camp. I love learning from both of you! One thing she mentioned while talking about dressing for comfort was wearing natural fabrics as a sweaty person. Literally changed the game for me b/c I swear polyester just starts smelling on me halfway through a hot day - icky!

I used to exclusively wear platform sneakers and boots, but I've transitioned to more low-profile shoes and I'm loving them. I thought I had to wear platforms because I'm so short and I have thicker ankles + legs, but the flatter soles and slimmer shoes actually complement me so well! I feel like a little doll in a dainty flat, and I'm not trying to hide any of my features.

Great video 🥰 Neutrals aren't just black, white & tan. Stay in your fashion comfort zone. Never care about the situation, the outfit, and others. You just need to care about: stairs? Paved streets? If you don't look back at your outfit and think "wtf was I wearing?", you're not having fun. If everyone likes what you're wearing, it's boring. The most sustainable clothes are the pieces you already have. Try everything until you find what you love, never stop experimenting to find your style. Never wear something that's itchy. Wrong shoe theory. Think about the "effect" you want to give off: cool vs pretty? It doesn't look bad, you're just not used to seeing it on your body. Iron/steam everything. Fix your posture. Sandwich method. Take inspo, don't copy. Flattering clothes are overrated. If you wouldn't buy it from a normal store, don't thrift it. Don't stick to one aesthetic. Never wear more than three colors. Trying to make yourself look the most skinny/snatched is ruining your outfit. Good hair day = good outfit Don't dress your age, dress yourself. Wear your clothes at home, so when you wear it out, you're comfortable. If it doesn't make you feel like dancing in the dressing room, don't buy it. Everytime you're about to leave the house, put on one more accessory. Leave one thing undone. Eight point outfit. Nothing is timeless. Take off the last thing you put on. If you feel uncomfortable, you will look uncomfortable. Hair is an accessory. Coordinate, don't match. Always add a bit of red. Casually wear your nice pieces. Wear it three times before cropping/cutting your garment.

One advice I guess I have is to wear the new thing you got immediately. I go to a clothing swap every month and I wear all my finds immediately to know if I actually like / can wear them and if not, back to the clothing swap they go. Plus it helps you figure out how you would realistically wear a piece so it doesn’t just get lost in your closet

I definitely feel like there’s a difference between dressing to show off your assets and dressing with your body type in mind. Like dressing just to make yourself look skinny/flatter your a$$ etc. aren’t great, but balancing proportions, etc. can really elevate an outfit.

I wear outfits with more than 3 colours as long as some of them are within the same 'family' - for example, I'll wear a cobalt blue T-shirt with dark green pants, white shoes, a burgundy bag and a light blue jeans jacket. They all feel like they are neutral shades apart from the cobalt blue. Would love to see you experiment with this in the next video!

I think any dressing or fashion “rules” can be a place to start if you’re not confident about your own personal style. The 3 colour rule, the sandwich method, the point system, the contrast dressing … whatever. If it resonates with you for whatever reason, just go for it and try it for a while. What it tends to do is hone in your focus on details of why an outfit “works” or accomplishes giving a certain aesthetic. I say, go ahead and try them all on for size if you’re persistently not happy with your current style or you feel stuck in a rut. It’ll shake up your perspective. Kinda like what you said about changing the profile of your shoe - you get used to the way your body looks in certain proportions and what not. But there is one rule I will NOT break for myself and that rule is: I must feel comfortable in my body. Even to the point where I may put on an outfit I know looks good, I know I like, it might even be my most beloved outfit, but if that day I don’t feel totally at home in my own body, I’m not wearing it. You always always ALWAYS look your best when you feel your best. And on days when you’re struggling for whatever reason, the last thing you need is to be irritated with the way your clothes feel on your body. And, as in all things, knowing the “rules” sets you free to break them. It’s a rare person that is born with an unerring style compass who never needs someone to teach them the fundamentals. For most people, having a road map to get you started is necessary. Then, when you gain confidence, you can toss them rules right out the window.

I just recently realized I always dressed in a way to try to create or show an hourglass figure and to hide my „problem zones“ since then I dress way more comfy and slouchy etc. and feel sooooo much better, it’s still a process everytime I look in the mirror but I am trying my best. Also the chunky sneaker to low profile transition is so hard for me to. Still love my airforce ones because I struggle with my legs especially in shorts and I feel the chunky shoe balances me out. But I am trying to give less fucks and wear my converse, sambas etc.

I like platforms because they're more likely to be wide-foot friendly. A lot of shoes that are on the lower length end ten to only be for people with slimmer feet except for crocs (the only non-platform shoe I wear besides vans). Not to say there aren't any that are wide foot friendly, it's just the ones that I want to partake in like ballet flats that don't cater to wide feet AT ALL. 😭
