The "tl" in aztec words is easy just say tleh example Xiuhcoatl is pronounced "shoe-co-a-tleh". Tlayacapan is pronounced "Tla-yah-kah-pahn" not like pan. More like pawn but more of a Ah sound. In Spanish the A is more of an Ah or Aw sound not A-e sound.

I love the tours, and I love that they are the "real" tour, not just some fancy part. It's the real Mexico, and that's fine. Had to laugh at the postal store not being open yet. You know that no one gets in a hurry to open, lol. Thanks for the great and fun tour. Yes, please do just keep driving around. There really is no end to all the places you can take us. The tours you give is more deplictive of life in Mexico and shows a part of reality we couldn't get with you sitting in your living room telling us the story. Jerry thank you so much for doing these tours! As a child my father would take us kids in the car and go exploring. At the time I couldn't stand going, now I have such fond memories. There was always something interesting to see, some hidden gem, or a place that needed to be fixed up but had "possibilities". I am retirement age and love to drive around and explore neighborhoods, so this is fantastic that you are doing this. I can't wait to find out where we are going next and what interesting places we may see!!

Great story about Calvin. I'm glad you showed the map because I always thought Ajijic was on the east end of the lake. I guess it is Spanish/Mediterranean tradition to wall off the houses. Makes you want to climb up and peek at them because I know some of them are really beautifull. I know, a drone! You don't see that here and walls can only be about six feet or less only done in the backs of houses. Maybe five feet?

Great idea about the maps, was just thinking that same thing when you said "a viewer..." lol (don't forget you could also just show the area on Google maps). Another video idea; I was looking around the Lake Chapala area at the many towns/cities all the way around the lake, if and when you can, you & Lynn could tour around and show us all just a little bit about each town. I realize it's not a small lake (I live in a city on Lake Simcoe in Ontario Canada, so I understand the size.) but that should give you lots to do!! Really enjoy your "down to earth", not "hyped up" videos. You have inspired me to want to make a trip in the future to the Lake Chapala area. Thank you. Hate to keep bugging you, but while in Ajijic I was so impressed with the quality of Mexican craftsmanship; the masons, the painters, the people working in wrought iron, etc, etc. Might it be worth a video in homage to the people in the trades in Mexico? Having visited Lakeside twice I am enjoying your tales and info. I am planning to visit again after vaccines are available and then move there fall of 2021. I have several questions of you pertaining to your videos and my eventual move there. 1. What camera system do you use? Do you have a video describing you camera and techniques? I know how rough the cobblestone roads are and your videos are pretty smooth. 2. Where do I learn about; can I drive my RV trailer down when we move to Lakeside and use it or sell it there? Also my truck is 10 years old and I know I can't sell it but could I use it and run it until it is worn out? 3. Lastly, how good would Lake Chapala be for wind surfing and kayaking?

Awesome chopstick story. I was a kiddo on Guam during the Viet Nam war. Becoming self-aware there, I was the minority. Funny how much of the less developed world often still has a well developed sense of humor. Hey, I noticed looking on Google Maps that lots of homes seem to have solar hot water and solar electricity. Do the solar electricity systems help will that bill much, since it seems like electricity there is pretty cheap?
@JCTravelStories
@JCTravelStories 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, electricity here can be very expensive. Its a tiered system. High kilowatt users can pay 4 times as much as the lower consumers. Solar makes more and more sense as the cost comes down. Short of several years of recouping the cost, it may just give you green bragging rights.

Not true. Old wives tale. The restricted zone which is about 50 km from the ocean or the border requires title to be held by a Mexican bank trust or a Mexican citizen. That leaves 95% of the entire country where foreigners can hold title by direct deed. I'm one of them. I have two. :)

Jerry, another great episode. A minor critique, the baby bottles are not in Chula Vista Norte they are in upper Chula Vista. A small but important distinction. If you have the ability to do screen capture, try Google maps online as a way to describe your travels. All in all, great stories and content.

I was wondering who would be first to point out my Chula Vista mistake. I'll try figuring out the Google Maps idea. Thanks.

The visual of trying to picture you standing at the ironing board...iron in one hand...wrinkled open map in the other; it paints a rather humorous image. I can only imagine what your housekeeper (or groundskeeper) must have thought watching the gringo trying to iron paper. lol They probably think white people are nuts! : D

White people are nuts! Here's an ironing tip for you. You can iron US dollars to make them crisp if you've had them wadded up in your pocket, or fall in the pool and get your money clip wet. Yes, I know this for sure, but don't try it with Mexican pesos. They're plastic. :)

has the tiny house movement reached that area?
@JCTravelStories

Not that I know of. Mexican families are large and young couples often live with parents. Tiny just doesn't fit the culture. Expats usually have houses way bigger than they need because they can afford them. I'll keep my eyes open. I am attracted to the idea of the movement. Its kinda simpatico with RV living .... which I love. :)

It appears there are many casitas in tha area to rent (both short and long term)...am I correct? For 1-2 people these seem to be perfect.

Hey Jerry, when I move to Mexico, I will still have to file income tax returns annually in the US. I imagine I will have to show an address in the US? I will not have a house/property in the US. What do other expats do? Thanks for all the great info!

I saw some you tubes from full time RVers about this. There are many companies that provide this service. Some you tubers even say why establishing your domicile in certain states has a tax advantage. Depends on your circumstances. Seems to me Texas might be best.

You will not have to show a US address. You can be a foreign resident. You are correct that you will file US taxes no matter where in the world you live. There are other reasons to have a US address ... credit card billing addresses for instance. Texas and South Dakota are popular domiciles because they have no State income tax. Google America's MailBox in South Dakota. The Ishop place I talked about in this video can give you a Texas address.

@@JCTravelStories I am thinking of Nevada as they have no state income tax and my son lives there. I may move there temporarily to establish residency there before permanently moving to Mexico. Then I can legally claim that as my last address in the US. From what I have read, they could ask for proof of residency when claiming a move like that.

I use an older no longer supported version of Pinnacle Pro on my iPad2. When I upgrade my iPad, I will switch to LumaVision .... something like that.
