Somehow your video only shows what is known as "Historical Old Lake City". No traveling down Hwy 90 with insane bumper to bumper traffic. People, we do not live in a bubble here! Its Florida, theres lots of alligators, snakes, wild life, crazy people, drugs, gangs, good areas , bad areas, its just like any other place in the US! Maybe not as crazy as some places, but its getting there! I have lived here all my life, it used to be a great little town. Its just not so little anymore. Places change, they call it progress. In my opinion it ruins your hometown. So before you move here, do your research. Can you get a job here, will your family fit in here?

I'm watching because we're interested in this area. Just curious about a couple of things . We read that hurricanes are not as devastating or tornadoes is this true ? Are alligators as prevalent as in other areas ? And snakes ? We used to live in Fort Lauderdale and hurricanes did us in more than once.
@Florida4Kchannel Жыл бұрын
It is true that Lake City, is located inland and is less susceptible to the devastating effects of hurricanes compared to coastal areas. Regarding alligators, Lake City is located in an area known as "Alligator Alley," so it's likely that you'll come across alligators in and around the area. As for snakes, Florida is home to many different species, some of which are venomous. However, it's important to note that encounters with snakes are relatively rare and most snakes are not harmful to humans. Overall, while Lake City may have its share of alligators and snakes, it's generally considered to be a safe and pleasant area to live in.

@@lori....4816 I’ve lived here since 1986 & if you stay around populated areas, it is extremely rare to spot an alligator. Alligators will avoid you on land but if you go boating or swimming in a pond or lake you are more likely to see them. Be very careful walking pets near bodies of water as they can emerge quickly from the water & attack you or your pet. On land, most people can easily outrun an alligator. The most common snake you may come across is the water moccasin & some rattlesnakes. Also there are some non poisonous snakes like rat, oak & corn snakes but since I’ve lived here I have only seen one water moccasin, one corn snake & I did have a Pygmy rattlesnake in my backyard that my brother in law “took care of”. If you like hiking, 4 wheeling, mudding or boating, you are more likely to come across them but seeing them in populated areas are rare. As for hurricanes & tornadoes, Lake City is an hour and a half away from the Gulf & the Atlantic so it’s mainly a lot of winds & rain. I’ve mainly had tree damage but never enough damage to reach my insurance deductible. These are all quick generalities off the top of my head.

It’s just your average small town. But it’s in Florida. So expect major drug addiction. No major industry. It’s a stopping point for people traveling into and out of Florida. Cost of living is high every damn where, lol, if you wanna live somewhere nice.
@Firstmajortomlikestoticker Жыл бұрын
The community has no labor and delivery services at the local hospital, you have to travel 50 miles plus for a hospital to have a labor and delivery department in the hospital. Also the zoning board does not approve of apartment building and development. The only apartment locations (that house more than 60 apartments) are low income, qualifications if you make Less than $29,000 per year, you can pay a $300 application fee and get on the waiting list for someone to move out. The other one is again low income and a very violent neighborhood 6 miles away from the hospital. Do you like shootings and stabbings move here your court, fees and fines will keep the judge and the police officers well employed. Sad but true.

I also agree that you should stay away from Lake City where the local cops are so ignorant and incompetent that they arrest a blind man for carrying a collapsible cane while walking home from jury duty!

What does "don't play" mean? Don't play well together? Really don't understand this. Must be some colloquialism used locally.
