Beautiful Vlog ❤ I would like to add some information which can help anyone for there next trip. In your vlog you tell that the ferries run until late in the evening, unfortunately that is not the case also during the high season. Most ferries run until 8 pm, so always check the time scheduale at the port. Unfortunately you were unable to visit Villa del Balbianello because you saw online that the tickets for that day were sold out. For a next time I would definitely advise you to go anyway, because it is always possible to visit the gardens and the gardens are the main highlight! I've been to lake como multiple times in high season and I've never pre-purchased tickets for anything. Hopefully some tips that will help you for your next visit. Several years ago we spent three days in Varenna, in an apartment in Piazza San Georgio, where there are three churches from three centuries. The weekend brought out the children playing games in the piazza, so quaint and slow paced. We totally agree with your statement that it is best to stay in Varenna and ferry to the other towns. Veranna on a Sunday morning with coffee and croissants on the waterfront is just perfect. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

We are heading Milan 6th may 24 then lake Como staying in Varenna , Venice then travelling down throughout. Spending time with family in Abruzzo (Chieti ) then a cruise out of Rome to Barcelona. Went to lake Como last year. We went to Bellagio and Varenna but I also recomend in taking the boat to Mennagio on the other side of the lake. It's even more beautiful than Varenna in my opinion although Varenna is beautiful too.

Glad you've liked our lake! For those coming over this Summer I'd suggest to plan your visits to villas and such early in the day or late afternoons. We have ALOT of tourists this season and many groups lol; it can get crowded easily 😅 P.s. Al really loved that risotto with pesce persico haha

@ridwanhuang7452 It depends on what you'd like to do. Most of the attractions are open or better be visited from Spring to Autumn, then are closed. Even transportation is reduced during the Winter season. But it's still worth a visit if you like the views and Winter atmosphere 👍.

Almost forgot that in early December, if interested, there's the Artigiano in Fiera not far away in Milan along with Xmas markets! That event attracts people from all over the world and I highly recommend it 👌.

@@DanaBerez we have found that most of the smaller Italian cities have more subtle Christmas decorations, some lights, but nothing like we have in the US. Their cities are so beautiful they don’t need them ha ha The drama of the snow capped mountains on the lake was amazing. Also, we basically had the cities to ourselves as tourism is not as popular on the lakes in December.

I stick non-slip pads on the sole of sandals. That helps with the grip and also protects the soles of your sandals. Walking on those cobble stones can dent/damage them.

Lago di Como is so beautiful. We stayed in Bellagio, loved it as we had the most iconic view from our Airbnb. But will definitely stay in Varenna or along the lake. We used the bus and it was so easy just like the ferries. Enjoy!

Do you think Varenna has enough to do/see/eat in the evening or did you find yourself needing to go to Bellagio for more to do?

Thank you for watching! It does but only for 1-3 nights. There aren't many restaurants and it is very small. We stayed the right amount of time in Varenna. There is more to do in Bellagio than Varenna as it is more popular and bigger. In addition to things to do and restaurant options. I would consider how much of the other villages you will be exploring, your budget, how many nights total/per village and accessibility to the rail and ferry.

Now the train from Milan is only 5 euro. If you plan to visit most of the towns I suggest a private boat or a fairy 25 euro a day. Bellagio and Varenna are must see. Let me know if you needed more info.

Thanks so much! It was more expensive than other places in Italy. The restaurants that I recommended are little local places in Lake Como. There aren’t really “major” restaurants for tourists. The only one that is really popular is Bar Il Molo which is one of the main restaurants, so if you don’t want to eat at a busy place, I would avoid this one.

Yes there are many day tours to lake como depending on the tour will determine where they take you. September is a more mild month in terms of weather and can be chilly especially in the evenings.
