Today, I share my experience with Lake Country SDO 92550 CCS Pads. The Lake Country SDO Blue Heavy Polishing Pad w/CCS allow you to utilize CCS technology while removing heavy imperfections safely and easily! Pair it with your favorite compound or polish and remove medium to heavy imperfections like very fine scratches, swirls, RIDS and more. The SDO line of pads are similar to the HDO pads, but without the dual layer construction. HDO pads have a strong, dense foam packing that the regular corrective foam is mounted to but at a much lower price point. Lake Country removed that denser backing making them thinner and more versatile in terms of polisher usage. This high-quality foam is beveled at a 70-degree angle, which helps keep the pad flat on the surface and avoid rolling. This reduced movement helps reduce heat that can cause hazing and micro-marring while polishing. On top of the reduced movement, the open cell cooling chamber in the center of the pad keeps the pad running at cooler temps, increasing durability and polishing results. The backing of these pads will also withstand the large throw of the Rupes, Griot's Boss and other high powered large throw machines, along with regular dual action units. On top of all these features, the unique foam formulation and CCS technology provide some unique advantages over traditional pads.
Lake Country Pads.....www.detailedimage.com/Lake-Co...
Traditional foam pads can absorb polish too quickly, reducing performance because the polish is trapped below the face of the pad. The CCS Technology solves this problem with partially closed foam cells or dimples on the face of the pad. These pockets capture and gradually release polish as needed during the polishing process. This feature tends to reduce surface tension, pad skipping, and heat generation with less surface area on the face of the pad being in contact with the painted surface. Less surface area means less friction, which in turn increases polishing performance

SDO pads were actually made for "free spinning" DA machines. They are capable of all machines. The thinner pad is easier to avoid stalls as much. Open cells on a foam pad are also great if you have single stage or some gel coats. They help pull out oxidation away from the surface and then blow out residue after each section. I've been using the SDO's a little more lately.

SDO also works with forced pretty well too. I found the grey HDO interface foam crumbled away after use. Some also had the loop material delaminate.

I use both the sdo and hdo waffle pattern. On long throw DA, flex 3401 forced rotation and on my flex Kompakt 3 3" rotary. I have been wanting to try carpro pads since Carpro has been making some really good stuff. Carpro reflect has become my favorite fine polish and their mild clay bars are great, getting three 100gram bars for $28 that do as good as they do i feel is the best for the money. Some of these companies charging way too much for clay. I was using maxshine bars but 50gram bars is kind of ridiculous

I have so many favs. One thing I noticed about those SDO pads, were they're so much cheaper than HDO and many other pads. Even on Amazon, they have not jacked the price up as usual. The heavy polishing pad seems to work very well. Thanks for sharing Brian! Have you tried any other SDO pads yet?

@@apexdetail85 same amount of heat as the originals and sdo which are a cheaper pad. I have 20 of each so switch pads frequently. A new pad shouldn’t overhead in two panels where the foam separates from the backing
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 Жыл бұрын
@@motomuscl3 we use these in our training workshops and have students burn through clear with them intentionally. That of course causes tons of heat and ours fails on the surface way before the backing. Some adhesive inconsistencies. Sorry to hear that.

The SDO/CCS pads have no closed cells. It's collapsed...The whole pad is open originally. More misinformation....
@danlc95
@danlc95 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. The only pad they make that is closed cell is the white standard pads that are both closed and open. Their Hydrotech "100%" closed cell pads were slated to be discontinued. Buff and Shine still makes the Uro-Cell closed cell pads. Very nice too.

Directly from LC’s website… Conventional foam pads absorb polish too quickly. This reduces polish and pad performance because most of the polish is trapped below the working surface of the pad. CCS Technology™ solves this common problem using strategic patterns of partially closed foam cells
@danlc95
@danlc95 Жыл бұрын
@@orthodox1717 - It's wrong, which happens with lapses in proofreading. When the foam was manufactured, it consisted of open cells (except that white foam, which is a hybrid of closed and open). The ccs dimples are created by pressure and heat. Similar in theory, but the foam matrix itself isn't "closed" in technical terms. Go to 4:44 of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnyyi6eNn6utbJI
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 Жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 talking in circles to prove NOTHING! I could care less if it was intentional or accidental due to heat and pressure. When the pad arrived the cells in and around the dimples are either completely or partially closed. I could give a shit how it happened. Get a job. 👍🏻

@danlc95 Жыл бұрын
@Apex Detail - Well, I had to analyze and cross reference the many variables that comes with changing a or several component(s) with GREAT, unyielding specificity. The consequences of a mistake were expensive and time-consuming. So please don't take offense. I wouldn't call you out on this, not that big a deal. I'm just surprised someone caught it. Brad is a pretty sharp cookie who's up on his technical data.
What is the purpose behind the different colored foam pads?
