Lake District Walks | Brim Fell, Swirl How, Great Carrs & Grey Friar | Wainwright’s Southern Fells

Stunning views, fallen trees & a poignant memorial in the Southern Fells on Armistice Day 2023.
This 10.5 mile walk includes 3,140ft of ascent.
From the car park to Goat's Hawes and from Grey Friar back to the car park, only 2 people were seen (in the distance). Between these points was crowded! The route could be extended to ascend Coniston Old Man and escape the crowds for as long as possible.
Mostly clear paths throughout, except a section of descent from Grey Friar summit.
Boggy all around Seathwaite Tarn.
At the time of filming (Nov 2023) it was a nightmare through the fallen trees on Pike How. These could be avoided by parking/starting/finishing at SD 23538 98878.
