Just did haystacks today after a fall on high stiles 2 months ago resulting in a torn mcl and climbing up with a leg support on was ok but coming down my leg gave up took me 4hrs getting down. Stupid to attempt it but just missed the views but i think after today my climbing days are over. Loved the video thanks.

Wow, sorry to hear about the fall and recurring pain - I still get pain from a badly turned ankle last November, so I can't imagine what you're going through. Hopefully things will improve! Best wishes, Neil

@LakeDistrictFilms thanks. After watching your videos I gonna have to get back up there it's just to good to walk away from. My leg will heal one day I hope.

Lovely video. Alas, my trip to the UK this summer by-passed the Lake District. However, I did take the opportunity to go to Wales and take the cog-rail train 3/4ths the way up Mt Snowden; a consulation prize.. Next time, I will hike up all the way to the summit instead. Do beware when you hike up Snowden, one false step on the north slope and you plummet to your death 1,000 - 2,000 feet down; and do take with you warm clothing, water, cellphone and snacks. And, yes, the Lake District is on my wish list for another trip to the UK.

Just did Haystacks today, I went clockwise. Amazing views at the top and filled my water bottle up on the ascent. Best water I've ever had.

Thanks for another lovely video You are absolutely right to say going up is easier than coming down, especially if it’s wet because you lean into the rock when you ascend. I found that even more so on White Edge on Melbreak. I would only recommend going up Fleetwith and the advantage is going down Scarth Gap is comparatively a stroll.

Thank you! We'll have to do the clockwise route another time! All the best.

Really enjoyed that, super video in great conditions. You really showed that getting up to Haystacks is far from straightforward. Loved the descent from Fleetwith Pike, one I will have to do sometime. Regards, Ashley

As ever a great video. Really looking forward to the Mission Impossible films, anticipating a lot of Lakes District action as Tom Cruise was also jumping out of a helicopter the last time i was in Buttermere in September 2021 as well.

Thank you! Yes, I can only assume they were doing reshoots, because they seemed to be doing the same stuff as in 2021.

You’ve just retraced our route in April 2021 except the fleetwith decent we did the sheer steep drop not zig zag down, loved your video and snippets of info.

Ooooh! Not too sure about that descent from Fleetwith Pike! If i did it in reverse would the descent from Haystacks be better or worse?
@LakeDistrictFilms4 ай бұрын
A lot of people seem to be against the Fleetwith descent, and it is a little exposed in places, but I found it OK. The ascent is comparatively popular, and the descent off Haystacks, although steep in places is probably easier because each steep section is relatively short, and the walk down from Scarth Gap Pass to Buttermere is straightforward. Hope that helps!

We did this route down Fleetwith pike, I can honestly say it was scary. In certain parts I went down on my bum. When near the edge looking at cars going up honnister pass, they looked like dinky cars. I wouldn’t recommend going down it, unless your a thrill seeker.

@LakeDistrictFilms2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's probably about a 5 - 6 hour walk, depending on pace and the weather, although there are a lot of good spots for a breather! Hope you have a good day for it.

Not a problem! It’s waterproof and fairly lightweight. Wish I could find the name, but it doesn’t seem to be on the jacket and is a few years old, so might be something else now.

Thanks. And thanks again for all your videos. Always a pleasure to watch. I live in Windermere and am currently working my way through the wainwrights from the 64 walks to do them book. It’s been great to watch your films ahead of some of our ambles. Also they’re great for de stressing. All this talk of war and everything has had me escaping to the fells more and more lately, even if sometimes only virtually via your wonderful films 🙏

Yikes! Definitely a bit too scary for me. Excellent video but I think I'll stick to the lakeside walk. Atb.
