I was just up there, bank fishing around Catawba Island, East Harbor, and Sandusky Saturday, super muggy and nothing hitting. Sunday I went a Walleye/ perch charter. They took us at Kelly's Island Shoals. Caught a nice Walleye, hooked a big sheephead, line snapped while trying to net it. And the mystery fish that took alot of line running from the boat then snapped 8 lb flouro! I was freaking soaked from the rain and love it! Always enjoying your videos see ya!

Way to go on the successful catches!! That pike launching out of the net was so cool!🎣🎣🎣

Thanks! Yeah it was so fun to go out not in a tournament and just fish. Pike are so darn strong!

B loop is where you wanna go. C loop is the pet section and gets a little noisy. If you camp a couple weeks before Memorial weekend, you can walk right in. It's "Ohio Biggest week in Birding"

Yeah we usually camp in the B loop, but this was a last minute trip and this was the only electric site available at the whole campground.

Great video, it's such a joy to watch you fish. You always seem to really be enjoying yourself, even when things don't go as planed😉

Aww thanks! This weekend was the first one I had in a long time where it wasn't a tournament, and I had been in kind of a mental downslide fishing tournament after tournament and doing progressively worse as I got more and more grumpy... but this weekend reminded me it is all about mindset and the challenge of finding fish... nothing else!

Great video! Every time I watch one of your videos I think to myself how stable that kayak looks in the water. Those fish looked like fun to catch, sorry you weren’t able to get that first pike in the boat haha

Thanks! I don't think I would be nearly this brave without my Lynx! It makes me feel invincible, which will probably mean I dump in the water soon. 🤣

That's impressive how light your yak is. My fishing yak is 100lbs empty.
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
It is really nice to only lift up the 47 pounds (probably 50 with the rails installed and stuff) after a long day of fishing!

I had a net like that and unless you lock it on your arm it’s extremely awkward to use, especially if you have to extend it out (lean out). I ended up losing it one day (honestly, not on purpose) and just got a straight handle one with a deep net.
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just broke down and ordered a straight handle aluminum one to try, but I hate admitting defeat with that Yak Attack one! Mine doesn't latch open, which does cause problems sometimes when it is in the water, but mostly the problem is user error.

Any videos showing where you stash big fish to bring home?
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
I actually have never kept a fish, I just do catch, photograph, and release, but some guys I’m fb friends with use the Lynx to catch dinner, and they have a flat Hobie fish cooler bag thing on the nose of the boat.

Hi Melissa, watched a couple of your videos and love the enthusiasm. I notice you are using the Kayak Kushion. I have been considering getting one the next time I visit the USA. How do you like them? Cheers Ernie (Canadian patiently waiting for the water to get soft again).
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ernie! I really like my Kayak Kushions… I have 2, one for sitting on and one for a back rest. They offer regular and firm, and I couldn’t decide, so I switch them back and forth for variety. It seems like such a simple product, but I haven’t found another one yet that is just that right size for a kayak seat and able to be washed. Hope you are enjoying some ice fishing on that hard water! :)

How’s the Lynx holding up. The bottom looked rather chewed up when it was on the roof rack
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
That is just the Gorilla Tape that we put on the bottom figuring the tape would shred and the kayak wouldn't! This is my second batch, this spring I took the tape off from last year and put on a new layer. The Lynx is actually in good shape... I recorded a video this spring showing the bottom because so many people were asking to see it : kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqW1p6ugespseNE

@@GirlGoneFishing I didn’t think there were oyster beds in Ohio
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
I don't know of any oyster beds here, but there are plenty of concrete boat ramps, and I have yet to figure out how to completely eliminate the need to drag at least a little bit to get the kayak to where I can get the cart in and out at launch and take out.

Get rid of that net! ;-)
@GirlGoneFishing2 жыл бұрын
🤣 I really don't blame the net, it is totally operator error! The fact that I haven't mastered that net in 3 years of using it might mean it isn't the net for me, but I love the big net part and the fact that it is that soft rubber that protects the fish slime.
