In this video we hiked into Lake Mary in Mammoth Lakes California. It was a full day filled with FISHING, amazing views and a lot of exercise. I also added unseen footage of Kristine catching her personal best trout in the Eastern sierra.

Anyone else get altitude sickness going up into the mountains? I seem to get it every single time I go up to Mammoth Lakes. Comment below if you have any suggestions! Thanks in advance.

I always like to stay at a decent elevation the first night I stay before I really do any hiking. Helps a ton to get acclimated the first day then the rest of the week is alot easier on you.

@@fishindude4201 Yeah even if I stay local in mammoth it hits me like a truck. Maybe I need to stay even lower elevation like bishop for a day. Never fails though, every trip I’ve had the same issue. I’ll try anything at this point because it takes out a whole day of fishing when it hits.

Make sure to overhydrate before you get into the Sierras and continue to drink water regularly while fishing. I’ve had friends get altitude sickness and dropping down to Bishop has always been the remedy.

Honestly I'm just fishing trying to stock up on videos to start our own channel. Hoping to be more prepared and always have a video to post. Hopefully in about 6 months I'll be prepared enough to start dropping videos. Im still learning shots and how to talk and edit. Question did it feel weird talking to the camera in the beginning knowing nobody was watching? And does it get easier when you actually have subscribers?
@ExploreNaturesCatch
@ExploreNaturesCatch 3 жыл бұрын
@@monicahaydostian2858 That’s awesome! Let us know when you start posting and we will check it out. To your question, yes it was really awkward talking to the camera in the beginning. If you go back to our older videos we hardly talked and the editing was crappy but over time you get used to it and the editing will get better the more you work at it. Sometimes I still do feel strange when I’m by myself talking to the camera when there’s other strangers around. Just know you can always edit out the mess ups (or not) so just keep talking, take a breath start over, etc. With time like everything else, you will improve and feel more comfortable. Just keep at it! 😁

Just the drag going out on any spinning reel creates line twist. Turning the handle while it's going out has nothing to do with it.

@fknchristoph 3 жыл бұрын
@@cgyotoku erroneous on all accounts. It twists it more.
@cgyotoku
@cgyotoku 3 жыл бұрын
@@fknchristoph You should grab a spinning reel and examine what happens when you pull the drag out. You'll see that each time the spool makes one revolution, it puts one twist in the line. This will occur whether you are turning the handle at the same time or not. In other words it has nothing to do with creating line twist and/or as you claim, creating more line twist.
@fknchristoph
@fknchristoph 3 жыл бұрын
@@cgyotoku if the spool is spinning due to drag being pulled out and the bail is closed it doesn’t spin the line; it takes the line off the spool the way it came off. The rotation of the bail is what twists the line. Hence when you turn the handle - causing the bail to rotate; it will cause line twist.

Went up to Mary 29th day they opened the road for a late afternoon session. Plenty of people still fishing not much action from shore. Broke out the float tube had maybe an hour left of sunlight, caught and landed PB for Mary 6.4lb bow on a size 14 black emerger fly pattern. Not much action otherwise, but the Loop was starting to pick up quite a bit, water temps rose about 8 degrees from a week ago. Stay safe, tight lines, and see you on the water. By the way my mom used to get altitude sickness as well, spent an extra day in Bishop for her to get acclimated to the altitude, sometimes due to time constraints that's not an option, but it is an option.

I take asprin for altitude sickness, take 2 asprin-12 hours before going up, I take it the day before going up to altitude.. Asprin thins the blood, but you need to take it before going up. Then take 1 for next couple of days to prevent altitude sickness. It takes me 2-3 days to acclimate then no more asprin needed. Slow release/ low strength asprin is what I use.

Did you find the owner of the dog that bit you? You need to get their name and report them to the local animal control or local law enforcement. That dog could do serious injury to a child. Dog bites can lead to a serious infection no matter how slight if not treated properly. You have a big $$ claim with the dog owner’s insurance company.
