Hey Marc thanks for documenting that. Kind of bums me out. I sold my boat several years ago because of the continued lake levels dropping. It was becoming hazardous to even navigate with new rocky areas coming to the surface. We had a lot of fun over the years on the lake. Wish the Rockies would get huge snowpack for like 20 yrs in a row and refill it but alas I may never see it again in my lifetime.

My grandparents came to Vegas in the 60s and they converted an old school bus into a camper. My Mom was a teenager at the time and they got to Vegas and could not find housing. Vegas was growing back then too and they had no place to live. So Grandpa took the bus and parked it at cottonwood cove and they lived there at the lake until one of his co workers rented them an apartment. Mom and Dad both graduated from Vegas HIgh. But Dad got to Vegas in 1949. She still talks about living at the lake. (Cottonwood Cove is on lake mohave)

I lived in Las Vegas Henderson Nevada from January 1978 to September 2011. Saw lake Mead overflowing its banks, swelling up and bursting at the seams and Hoover dam overflowing its banks and spillways in April 1983! Many many years decades of fun in lake Mead. Always knew this was gonna happen sometime in the future back in 1995 as Las Vegas/ Henderson Nevada was having a building boom. Got outta there in 2011. Sad to see prophesy reality take place and come to pass. Good luck all with water there. Get out while you can if you can. Bone dry by 2025 if this continues.

Of the 7 states in the Colorado river pact that was drawn in 1922 Nevada was one of the states with the least amount of acre feet of allocated water. Of course they had no idea of the population explosion Las Vegas would undergo at that time. Hence Las Vegas has been one of the most water conscious regions that draws water from the Colorado for many years now. The Imperial Valley which is a major farming region uses a lot of the water. If you’re on the east coast and eating a kale salad in January you can bet that the lettuce came from the Imperial Valley. The drought is a major issue that no one is talking about.
