Lets tell the history and the reason why Higgins boats were developed. In WW2 the US needed a boat that could drive into the beach and unload its cargo... whatever that was quickly and then go back into the water for reuse. They were built in Louisiana out of wood and they were never designed for long term use. They were purpose built very quickly and expected to serve their purpose and likely end up at the bottom of the ocean. Someone probably purchased this one after WW2 as surplus and used it until it couldn't be used any longer. Historic because of why it was built, but its life is that of a surplus military artifact. There are 100s of these boats around the world, their historic value is in its purpose, not its physical being. But from the pics in this video, it doesn’t look like a Higgins boat. Higgins built all of the boats he designed with drop down ramps in the front for quick unloading. The boat in this video doesn’t appear to be designed that way, meaning it’s not a Higgins.
