No problem my friend. Thanks for the info. You never can tell, atmospheric rivers & blizzards are on the way. Keeping up with Orville & shasta are full up along with the rest of California reservoirs that were in the 20%range Deadpools crazy almost 200ft + gains 😮 .IMO they could fill quickly with mother nature's wrath. Safe travels my friend ✌️

@@just4kicks950 absolutely, you never can tell with the fluctuation regarding weather. It took 17 to fill from empty. I anticipate high water levels sooner or later. Have a good one bro.

The snowpack water is currently higher than 2019 when Powell raised by 52 feet. I know it depends on soil moisture and temperature but I think the fact that it rising some even now, to me that means the moisture might be better this year. I guess we will see.@@DesertRatExploration

Another great video. Interesting. Like all the back stories you add in. I always wondered what it was like down there. Can't believe how far the water dropped in the two years since I put kayaks in at the Antelope launch.

Nice job! The bathroom poop problem is the same as hiking Mt. Whitney. (Managed by US Forest). You’re required to A. Have permit to enter. B. Pack out your poop (they give you poop bag). Sounds nasty; but due to the high volume of hikers and the fragile ecosystem- that’s just what human need to do to respect the environment if you want to enjoy it w/o f-ing it up. It’s known as “Leave no Trace” adventuring.

IF Lake Powell's watershed area gets it's normal amount of rain through the spring and summer months, it is a real possibility that due to the WELL ABOVE average snowpack it COULD gain 50+ feet in elevation. The problem is we'd still need 3-4 more STRAIGHT YEARS of this level to get close to even.
@DesertRatExploration
@DesertRatExploration Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s needs consistent wet years. Who knows it could be full again but all the water that fills it will be sent to Mead
@BIGJATPSU
@BIGJATPSU Жыл бұрын
@@DesertRatExploration actually the Bureau's plan is to more or less short Mead at least for this year to prop up Powell so it can still generate power. As for future years, no one knows yet. However if we get a couple good consecutive above average years, I'd expect Mead will get a lot more than average at some point.

The waste issue is silly. The kayak companies need to get get a damn pot- a- potty out there. No excuse, just do it. Charge kayakers and extra dollar. Or I'm going to 💩 and bury it on the shoreline. It's your job to provide this service, period. C'mon Man !!
@DesertRatExploration

The National Park Service won’t do anything about it so, yes your right, the companies need to do something. I wrote a letter to NPS about the human waste issue in Zion NP Narrows. Every side canyon with sand had poo and a urine smell. I got no reply.

I have been going to Powell since 1967. Not being a snowflake, we always carried a Port a potty on my small boat and camping area. If in need we dug a trench way above water line. Grow up and quit asking people to support your lack of planning and leaving the comfort of your home😵‍💫🤬

boaters now use dynamite to destroy canyon walls. In a national park, that seems entirely against the concept of preserving mother nature.

Antelope and the Navajo nation had to accrue permits from NPS. Recreation areas are treated differently from National Parks. But I completely agree with you.
