By a lark I heard this band for the first time last night. I'm blown away by the way they develop a song. It's like mixing the Beatles into jazz and adding a pinch of Motown with a light dusting or R&B. I can't get enough.

I love 2:40 when McDuck just laughs at how good Rachael's crazy vocal improv is. You get the feeling they all impress each other constantly. One of my LSD favorite videos.

I am trying to learn the bass line for this song, and it's making me never want to bother picking up a bass again. This chick is just ridiculous. I was listening to the studio version, and I noticed that after the first chorus, she drops the whole riff down an octave, EXCEPT that high G which she keeps hitting. Meaning she runs all the way up and back down the neck for each repeat of the riff. I came here to see her play it live and confirm that yes, that is in fact what she's doing. Just insane. Who can play like that?? Not me, that's for sure.

+beavinator1 Yeah, the singer gets a ton of attention (and she is very talented), but the other three are every bit as good. I have seen them live too, and they were tight for 90 straight minutes, but still having fun. It was both a good time and really impressive.

You can do it- I believe in you! =D I am a bassist, as well, (though I haven't played in a while, need a new bass. Dx) and I can tell you from experience, the hardest songs are the most satisfying to learn. :3

This shit is priceless and timeless you could listen to it 20 yrs from now and still get that same feeling as the first time, I just discovered this band about a month or close to 2 ago through a friend who played one of their songs possibly this one I was pretty lit but when I heard Rachael's voice I sobered up just a little, I thought it was Amy Winehouse at first then I asked,so that's how it happened I got hooked like pooky from new jack city it just kept calling me man! so I looked her and the band up to check out some more of their music everything I listened to so far is jamming.

I see there are some thumbs-down for this. THERE IS NO WAY NOT TO LIKE THIS! It is beautiful complex simplicity. The bass alone is loveable, the vocals, jeeze - what's not to like?

+David Greene You can't fix stupid or bad taste. People are just born with it. Just rejoice that we were born enlightened and can appreciate such wondrous and beautiful things. I'm being a little harsh, but with all the shit music out there now that's dumbing down the masses I'm not going to be apologetic about it.

This is definitely not the kind of music I usually listen to, but daaaaamn they're good. Its not even fair how good they are. I've been a musician for 20 years and after listening to these folks, I've decided to put all my guitars and equipment on ebay because I now realize I suck. I'll just have to pick up a new passion, like making balloon animals at kids birthday parties.
@humptydumpty72010 жыл бұрын
I hope you're joking. Just because you're not as good at something as someone else doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it. If you're passionate about it, what does it matter if you're great at it or not?

I so know what you mean. I pulled into my garage listening to Alice In Chains and a guitar student of mine told me they wanted to learn this song. I pulled it up and just went... damn! This is intensely good! Great even! Fantastic!

Yes, this is very cool as well. It's so nice to see young, intelligent AND talented people making this kind of music. I think they're all good but like almost every other red-blooded male out there...........it's hard not to fall in love with that vocalist. Something very charismatic about her and I hope that they get the recognition that they deserve.
@davekpghpa10 жыл бұрын
That's sweet! Bass is just so perfect (and she's driving the band). Add in a fantastic voice, a simple snare and ride symbol (with brushes!) and a clean trumpet and you're half way there. What's the other half that makes this so "sweet"? Passion and just having fun! Great stuff... you're in my music favorites with this one.

Yes.. Bridget is the base and bass and foundation and drive behind their sound. She really is something. It's very much beneficial to listen through headphones so you can just ride the bass line through the whole thing. And she is a player! i.e. a jazz musician. Always improvising and creating, and with a great sense of humor in there.. And Rachael sings okay, too.
