One of my all time favorite rides! Great video! A couple suggestions/tips…. 1. Flume Trail Bikes is awesome! Whether you park at their shop and shuttle to Spooner, or park at Spooner and shuttle back! Check shuttle times. 2. The climb from Spooner to Marlett saddle is a grind - 4 miles of fire road/uphill - but results in a 10mile downhill with amazing views. 3. For any sections you walk, your bike should be on the “downhill” side (below you) - much safer!

Really good video. You pointed out the key facts and just the facts. Thumb placement while riding was very interesting. Never seen that before.

better to not go down for the shuttle. best to up hill and ride the pacific crest trail a number of miles then the bead burning down hill back to the start. yes rim brakes heat up the rim real good. i have done this trail a number of times. long before disk breaks were on bikes. couple times part of the flume was washed out do to rock slides or just covered over so you had to carry and hand your bike to another while you climbed the rock. it is a ONE way trail, but hikers do not care as they will block it while going the wrong way.

Awesome ....I made my reservation for the shuttle for September 4th. I can't wait to do this trail for the first time. Once I have a shuttle reservation I can park behind the Tunnel Cafe (parking lot) ??

You can park behind Tunnel Creek cafe where the bike shop is located. Enjoy your ride!

Is this a MTB destination spot worth traveling too. I live in Colorado and looking for a unique riding experience for next year when I turn 40.
@edo1932Ай бұрын
Yes. Especially combined with other MTB rides in the Tahoe Basin.

As a part time Tahoe local, yes - plenty of riding to support all kinds of abilities. 1. The Flume Trail is an EPIC ride. Its technically a “green” trail but has some exposure and 1 rockslide that you have to hike a bike. 2. Toads wild ride (SLT) 3. Armstrong to Corral (SLT) 4. Northstar Bike Park (summer) (lift serviced) (Truckee) 5. Kirkwood Bike Park (summer) (lift serviced) (Kirkwood) 6. Tahoe Rim Trail (East shore, select days) 7. Van Sickle (SLT) 8. Big Chief (Truckee) 9. Star Lake (SLT) Slightly further out (~2 hrs) is Downieville and Everstoke. And plenty more! Go a KZbin search on any of those and you’ll get your eyes worth.
