My wife and I drove to Tahoe from Orange County, CA in July. We both have cancer and are in our 60’s, the elevation and altitude is a problem, but that place is pure heaven. Spent three days in the heat. I hope it extends our life.

Beautiful video! I grew up near Tahoe, was only an hour drive and it’s the best place ever! During winter or summer the opportunities are endless there. Also for food places, yes glaze and confused doughnuts is the best! They have a blueberry old fashioned doughnut that is just incredible! Another great place is lucky beaver, it’s right in between all the casinos and is sooo good, just be ready for a long wait because everyone wants the delicious food, they have an open kitchen and you can see them making the food walking by outside (also open 24 hours). Another great place is fire and ice , it’s a raw buffet, you go around pick what you want and take it to the middle or the rest where the chef prepares it for you on a giant round grill and does cool tricks with his spatula and the ramekins you bring the food in. Anyways there’s nothing better than Tahoe, just moved to Oregon myself and still Tahoe is the best lol! If you’ve never been definitely make a trip there, it’s totally worth it!

We have a mile long and beautiful Main St lined with shops and restaurants with Mt Beacon overlooking the city. Take a hike up the mountain and you can see the NYC skyline on a cloudless day on the fire tower. Lots to do with the museum, the Bannerman Castle tour, and fall foliage while in season.

In terms of treats in tahoe, the best local place for cookies is wildflour cafe in squaw valley. It is only open during the winter, but the cookies are more than worth it. Everything is fresh and homemade, and the staff are really friendly. Also, I would not advise going to Jax. It used to be good, but the food has been awful lately
