Lake Trout summer jigging on Lake Champlain Vermont

Jigging summer lakers on lake Champlain Vermont. Sorry about the lengthy video but I could have make it 2 hours long and this is the short version. Seems like ths is the typical lake trout outing on champlain for the last few years for me, an average day seems to be 40-60 fish and the average size are 25-30". I used a variety of baits , but this outing the small 3.8" swimbait was the bait of choice. I brought along a friend that admitted at the end of the trip that it was his best day of fishing ever. I started off hiding a bit from the 3 and 4 foot waves on the north end of a large island jigging in 70-80ft. The bite was decent but it really didnt get crazy until the wind laid down and allowed me to hit a spot that had been great to me in years past. The spot was a saddle in between two humps that come up to 100" , the saddle rested in between them at 110" and the fish were stacked up. We never had to move the boat again and we always had multiple fish under the boat. Enjoy the video, thanks for watching and dont forget to subscribe!!

Looks like fun. I hired a guide to do this out of Platsburgh. We caught 12 fish in 5 hours, but not like you guys saw for action. Well done.

Tons of idiots beating on cookie cutter fish to make content. Eventually there will be so many boats it wont be worth going. Thankfully the youtube crew avoids the wild west that is jigging ontario lakers....

Another great video- congrats! Btw what day was this outing on? Seems all the spots I’ve been jigging this early-late summer have little to no more (active) fish on them(100--135"), and they regularly produced 20-35 fish per outing. I've been wondering now that if by mid-September, these fish no longer relate to bottom the way they do in warm summer months, and begin to move around the water column as the temperate retreats below 70 degrees. Btw, are you in around "Skylar" reef last 10 minutes of your video? thx!

North of Skylar. Yeah most fish were 70-100. Last spot was 100 and the fish were piled up. Never had to move for several hours. They will start to go shallower pretty soon to get ready to spawn when the water gets close to 50.

I've never fished Champlain but, I hope to try it this summer. I have a 16 ft Lund rebel ss. 50 horsepower Merc. In your opinion is my boat and motor adequate for that body of water?

Should be just fine. Try the mid section of the lake, from champlain bridge north to just passed cumberland point area. All the humps from 70-200 ft hold piles of lakers.
