Lake Wylie sure is fishing tough right now! It was all I could do to weigh-in 2 small keepers and get some much needed points to help me qualify for the BFL Regional Championship.

Lake Wylie is tough man. I had a club tournament on Wylie the same weekend you guys were fishing. I probably caught 12 fish that day and not one measured 14 inches. It’s like they had a couple years of bad spawns and there is a big gap between the 1-2 year old fish and the 5lb bass. Only one angler weighed in a limit in my tournament. Keep and keeping on. Weights in the BFL were low as well. Honestly I just think it's a tough time of the year to be bass fishing. I'd love to come back when it's primetime up there. :)

I enjoyed you sharing the lures used and where you fished and why you were fishing certain areas. I am not a tournament angler, and live close to a Shad and Herring lake in North Carolina and it's been tough fishing. I don't get fishing much. I sometimes wonder what happened to these Lakes.? Fishing some of them years ago it seems like no matter where I drop a lure in there was at least some activity. I learned from an NC Fisheries biologist that spotted bass are pushing out the Largemouth. Making the transition from fishing mainly Largemouth to spotted bass maybe my challenge. I saw a stocking of over 400,000 Striper fingerlings at a ramp in Gaston. The driver indicated that many more would be stocked at other ramp locations. I wonder if the striper population diminishes the Largemouth population? Any more tips on fishing for spots would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
