Awesome reaction, as always!! Larry Legend is Larry Legend for a reason. Another crazy fun fact is that Michael Jordan admitted that he learned everything he knows about trash talk and psychological warfare from Larry Bird. Larry Bird was savage like that If you’re looking for other players to react to, I’d love to see you react to Reggie Miller’s 25 points in the fourth quarter or the intro/opening to Winning Time: Reggie Miller versus the New York Knicks Reggie Miller was an absolute BEAST. He gets underrated a lot because a lot of better shooters have come along after he retired, but he was THE pioneer of the modern three point scoring strategy and was largely considered the greatest shooter of all time for quite a long time. Legendary shooters like Ray Allen and Steph Curry basically admit that they just took what Reggie Miller created and ran with it He was also pretty much considered one of the greatest trash talkers of all time along with Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Gary Payton. And he’s a king of intangibles - a lot of what isn’t captured in the stat sheets, like his offball game and his ability to wreak havoc on the other team’s defense and cohesion, made his peers consider him an all-time great and made guys like Michael Jordan admit that Reggie Miller was one of the toughest competitors he ever faced

Bird knew about psychology and people who would let his trash talk affect their game. He was quiet and usually the only player who heard him was the guy that he was trashing. But he didn't spare anyone or any team, including coaches.
@F1rstWorldNomaD2 жыл бұрын
He not one of these guys, hes the OG, the kingpin, the Don. Jordan said it himself, everything he learned about Trash talking and mind games he learned from Larry Bird. Jordan said that... about Larry. so yea, if you think Jordan was one of the guys, his literal *Sensei* in this aspect of the game was Larry.

About Bird vs Dr.J: Larry kept yelling their respective points to Erving, once it got to, like, 40 to 6 he told Dr.J it was time to retire :P Which led, I believe to the brawl scene with Barkley and Dr.J :D

Great film session! I'm a Chicago boy and have always proclaimed Michael was the GOAT, but I couldn't proclaim it with conviction because he never beat Larry Legend.

On top of the guys laughing on the bench Bird was hitting virtually everything he threw up and then ended up with 60 points and the game winning shot-!

What gets lost is McHale scored 55 the week before to break the Celtics record. Bird told him he should have went for 60 as McHale took himself out of that game early.

That Magic & Larry story is one of my favorites. It always makes me laugh. The other one is when he tries to get Kevin McHale's ass kicked by Elvin Hayes. Can you do a reaction video of the most gifted athletes that played in 2 major sports? Baseball (KC Royals)& Football(the Raiders). He is Bo Jackson. Bo was in the All Star games for baseball. Where he led the bottom of the first with a 448ft. home run. In his 8 baseball seasons his bat avg .250, 141 HRs, 415 RBIs. Bo was in the Pro Bowl. Played 4 seasons with the Raiders. But an unfortunate hip injury during a 1991 playoff game against the Bengals. Ended his careers. He had such strength and speed. In Feb 86 he ran a pre-draft 40yrd dash in 4.13. His 4 yrs in football he rushed for 2,782 yards and 16 touchdowns with an average yards per carry of 5.4. He caught 40 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson's 221 yards on Nov 30, 1987 is still a MNF record.

Oddly enough, Bird's teammate Danny Ainge is the only 3 sport first team All-American in high school history (baseball, football and basketball). Professionally I believe Ainge played a bit for the Toronto Blue Jays before playing for the Celtics. I always get a kick out of watching Ainge playing basketball because he looks like such a little kid and then you find out he's 6'5", and Bird, McHale and Parrish just make him look small. The famous 2 sport guys are Bo Jackson and Deon Sanders.

I laughed out loud when you said "I never heard no white guy say Holmes..... unless he was buying one." Of course, we should pronounce ever so slightly the L in Holmes so homes and Holmes do sound different. Hoe (the garden tool) and Hole (an excavation of the earth), for example, are similar sounding but completely different words.

Great reactions. Larry didn't talk trash. He talked the truth and was more than a regular assassin because a regular assassin doesn't tell their target what they are going to do to them before they do it. Larry would tell his opponents what he was going to do and then he'd go do it. He knew that it was just another form of psychological warfare and he used it to his advantage. This was significant because the game is more psychological than most people probably realize and Larry was unrivaled at getting in other players' heads and getting them out of their games. I think the most impressive thing about it is that he didn't just do it to average players, he also did it to the best players in the league, and many of them are in the Hall of Fame.

MJ learned how to trash talk by Larry Bird.. that came right out of MJ'S mouth. Bird played basketball when he was young with all black guys that worked at a hotel in his neighborhood and learned trash talking from them. And his street ball. Oh and Larry was good in defense. He made 3 or 4 all defensive teams. Idk why people say he wasn't a good defender. There's a lot better trash talking stories this one is alright but there is a lot better ones.

One of the funniest all-time Larry Bird trash-talking stories (and it hasn't been commented on much) is by Jayson Williams (not white chocolate, the other Jayson Williams). And how Larry Bird almost made an NBA player briefly contemplate suicide. I think it's hysterical. Even if you don't react to it, listen and enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3a3fKNra9SAbpY
