Larry Bird. 3 consecutive NBA MVPs at the time of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Isaiah Thomas, and so many other Hall of Famers. Three consecutive Three-Point Shootout champion. Sorry....Even though I hate Bill Laimbeer, the minute Lebron tried his whining crap in an 80s type game with the bad boys his a$$ would have been stomped by Laimbeer and Salley, with Rodman coming in for thirds. You seem like a smart guy. The importance of Magic and Larry to the NBA today is undeniable. The pressure that was on them must of been tremendous. I am 72 and way back during the Bill Russell, Wilt Chamerlin, Oscar Robinson days there was little TV coverage. I listened to the radio. Basketball at the highest level was tape delayed. As soon as Larry and Magic entered the NBA everything changed. Now, stats are stats. Who according to stats is the greatest. Don't know. Kareem has the most points and did it honor. Jordan advanced Basketball. However, none of their accomplishments would be possible without Larry and Magic.

Bird should at least in your top 5. 3 back to back league MVP in an era with Russell, Kareem and many other legends of the game. 3 back to back shooting contests, Coach of the year and Executive of the year with the Pacers. This video did not show much of his extraordinary passing skills. Bird knew where every single person was on the floor and could pass without looking. To me he is the GOAT.

Another amazing video along with Larrys "Ultimate mix tape" is called "86 Celtics Tribute - THE BEAUTIFUL GAME" - its got some of the greatest multi-player passing you'll ever see - youll think youre watching the Harlem Globetrotters.

I like you Sean, I like your perspective! I grew up around Larry Bird, for REAL! Larry went to Indiana State University in MY HOME TOWN!! I have some of his greatness etched into my memories forever! You HAD TO BE THERE! I got to be there, and meet 6' 9' Bird. I got to serve him LUNCH at the new Long John Silver where I worked. Trust me, Terre Haute Indiana was NEVER the same. Larry Bird brought something like NEW DNA to the NBA. He was and is ONE of the TOP THREE of all time, and you can see that!!

Bird is more than top 10. He was a shooter that averaged a double double. He had back to back 50/40/90 seasons. 3x 3 point champion in a row. Not to mention he is 6-0 in the playoffs against Jordan, sweeping him twice. He has the second highest win percentage of all time, which is even more impressive considering that at that time the eastern conference was a much harder conference. The only downside to his career was that it was cut short compared to others who get GOAT talk. If wasnt for injuries we would be talking about Bird's 6 rings and Jordan's 3. Most people forget he shattered a knuckle before his rookie season and was never the shooter he once was. Just imagine the numbers he would have put up.

I totally respect youre a Laker fan, theyre an awesome team for sure. But you MUST watch "Larry Birds Ultimate Mix Tape", its a must see if you want some real down low proof of the mans amazing work. You dont have to love the Celtics to respect and be entertained by his skills, and keep in mind Larrys not real athletic cant jump real high and had bad back problems - but damn can he pass, rebound, shoot, defend, he does it all and he can hit a shot from virtually anywhere on the court. His trash talking videos are also very fun to watch, he tells the other teams the damn play hes going to run before he does it-!-then he does it-! There are many fun trash talking stories, you should keep checking out his videos just for your own entertainment and hopefully as reactions too.

I know this is when you first started checking out Larry Bird but, I had a good laugh at your comment starting at 5:10 about Larry being a "sleeper" and the others being focused on each other, etc. Obviously, you know now it's the opposite. I said out loud to the screen "The only thing everyone else will be focused on is the fear in their hearts about how bad Larry's gonna beat em" 😂 . But I digress. ⛹‍♂🐦🏀🐐.

The better the enemy is, the more it enhances the prestige of the team who best them is. That is what made the Celtics-Laker rivalry in the 80s awesome.

Larry Bird was the complete package. He understood the game better than any player before or since. He was a Celtic Green God on the basketball court. He definitely wasn’t a sleeper. He was the entire army in one man. Larry Bird was the true GOAT.

Great reactions and observations, I’m going to subscribe to you! But I will also say that you still have a lot to learn about him! This particular video showed his shooting and game talk, it did not show how he passed, rebounded, played hurt… still so much more to get the full picture!!! Please keep investigating him! Great show, thank you!!! :0) ❤️

- There is another great series out on KZbin called Making the Case. It features (I believe) the eight top contenders for the GOAT. Well there’s a great one titled “Making the Case Larry Bird.” It breaks down his stats and really makes the case why Larry Bird should be in the discussion for being the GOAT. Really a great series. Magic Johnson has one too. Jordan of course. But you should see the series at least, if you haven’t already. I liked what Magic said at Bird’s retirement. Thing about Bird, he always accomplished what he said he would do. He backed his words up and even played hurt. - Larry Bird, “I’m going to shoot one over your head from the right corner rainbow, left handed, one legged, backwards, with my eyes closed, while whistling the Harlem Globetrotter’s theme song ‘Sweet Georgia Brown.’” 😬

At the end of his speech at Larry's retirement, he gave Larry a Laker's jersey that he had signed with the following "Larry Bird, to the greatest basketball player ever but more than that .... a friend. (signed ) Magic Johnson"

The Hick from French Lick (his self given nickname as he was born in French Lick, Indiana) was a DOMINATOR in his day and he could be today too. He said no one could guard him and proved it. He'd tell an opposing player and sometimes the whole team what he was going to do...and then do it! Once he told BOTH teams he was going to shoot the whole game left handed an did it! He scored most of his 47 points left handed during a game at the Trail Blazers. Bird famously said he was saving his right hand for the Lakers whom they were facing two days later. The CELTICS DEFEATED THE LAKERS 148-114. It was dubbed the "Memorial Day Massacre" and a profound embarrassment for the Lakers. Post Celtics he became head coach of the Indiana Pacers and eventually President of operations. Oh, and his business card said "The Hick from French Lick" LOL.

I think in most peoples’ opinion Jordan is the all time GOAT…I think that at least. Bird is my number 2. Just think of how many players Jordan destroyed through out his career….Bird was never one of them. In regular season games where Bird and Jordan faced each other Bird had 17 wins to Jordan’s 11, and in the play offs Bird had 6 wins to Jordan’s 0. Let that sink in. Bird retired shortly after Jordan came into the league due to his back injuries, partly because they man was a beast and played even while hurt. A little back story to the left handed game against Portland….that was the 85-86 season in which the Celtics went 50 wins to 1 loss at home in the Boston Garden. The only team they lost to was Portland. When they ended their road trip in Portland following the loss at home to them, that is when Bird said he was going to play left handed, to get back at them, revenge the loss, and put them in their place. Walton said he had 27 left handed at the end of 3 quarters, he finished the game 47 points and hit the game winning buzzer beater. There has never been a more clutch shooter than Bird Bird was the biggest and most savage trash talker in the history of the game. My top 5 1) Jordan, 2) Bird 3) Russel, 4) Robertson, and 5) Kareem
