Rui's defense improved so much if you watch games not the highlights or stats, at the same time, by JJ's strategy, his shoot attempts declined like hell. So, we need another Rui or wish Vando's Christmas miracle

Rui Hachimura remains on the 1st Unit while Dalton Knecht got demoted to the 2nd Unit and replaced by more aggressive 1-on-1 perimeter defender Max Christie. That’s because Hachimura is valuable as a defender against Power Forwards & Centers. They all can’t stop Small Forwards.

Lakers GM was not focused on trying to reach back-to-back Western Conference Finals, he was trying to protect 2nd year player Max Christie from losing playing time to a 6-year NBA veteran 2-Guard from 2023 NBA free agency that has previous NBA experience finishing Set Plays for 3-pointers. Now rookie Dalton Knecht is negatively impacted because he needs that same 6-year NBA veteran 2-Guard to mentor him.

I agree 100%. I like Rui. I'm just not sure he possesses the quickness, agility or side to side mobility to be a reliable defender. Rui would need to shed about 20 lbs or more to be a solid or better defender. I cant see him shedding all that muscle from now to playoffs; or ever for that matter
