Locked On Lakers

4 күн бұрын

Another day, another 24 hours of inaction from the Lakers. No trades, no signings, no nothin'.
Not even an assistant coach to start populating JJ Redick's staff.
None of this is to say the Lakers aren't trying, or are just killin' time before the regular season starts. Surely they're working the phones, and diligently trying to find some assistant coaches. But for now, nothing is actually happening. Maybe it turns out ok. The offseason is long. The world has a lot of coaches in it, many of whom could be an asset to Redick and the Lakers. But little by little, as the Lakers stack days without making moves, the option tree gets smaller. Golden State hired a couple of assistants on Tuesday. That shrinks the market, and changes its complexion, too.
At some point, the Lakers are going to have to get things done. The team needs improving. Maybe Wednesday will be the day.
Meanwhile, the Lakers did introduce their two draft picks, as the media met Dalton Knecht and Bronny James for the first time as Lakers. Needless to say, Bronny was the main draw when it comes to questions. He handled them well, but it was another reminder of the trade off he gets by coming to LA - much more scrutiny and additional pressure, along with a boost to the notion that he's only in the NBA because of his dad.
On the other hand, it's been reported James will get a multiyear guaranteed deal, something the 55th pick in the Draft can't always get. That kind of security is invaluable for a developmental player like Bronny.
HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky
SEGMENT 1: The Lakers introduce Knecht and James.
SEGMENT 2: The Lakers have a roster crunch, which Bronny contributes to.
SEGMENT 3: When are the Lakers going to do something? Even if something is hire a staff?

This front office is so incompetent and disorganized. It’s slow to hire a coach and assistant coaches. It can’t control the narrative about the team in the media. Rob has no plan B

I think that others are simply not interested in working with the Lakers. Teams, players, and coaches don’t want to be involved with the Rob/JJ/Lebron experience.

@walterehmann8799 2 күн бұрын
I could definitely see that for players especially. It has to be intense to be on a Lebron team and some players are just content to stack their money rather than run themselves ragged to improve the championship odds by 1 or 2 % points.

I don't know why they need another wing player . If you think Max Christie is ready to play starter minutes then give it to him the Knecht can play the bench minutes . Lakers have too many wing players .

@@LockedOnLakers one thank you for responding, but two I remember this channel and LakersNation acknowledging that this move last season was one that was underrated because they thought Cam would be able to unlock his game with us. And that the Lakers and Cam had been linked for years. Maybe that was the clutch connection you guys mentioned more than anything but still, the move was thought to to be a positive one by most Lakers centric media
@LockedOnLakers

@@goku1693 Speaking for Brian, but I can say with absolute certainty that neither of us ever referred to the Reddish signing as underrated in any way. We did acknowledge the possibility of the Lakers unlocking something in Cam (because the possibility always exists), but that’s not the same thing as a thumbs up. AK

I’ve changed from angry and disappointed to just confused and extremely curious…. there’s no way pelinka is actually not gonna do anything at all so there’s gotta be a reason why stuff is being held up and I’m just so curious as to what it is. I know they’re incompetent but I just refuse believe they’re THIS incompetent. Something has to be going on behind the scenes right?

cam and jaxon's contract having a player option is really hurting the team. also i think all they need is a backup real center, who will come off the bench or play with AD if needed.

And that's the unfortunate blueprint of the Lakers. Jeannie listens to her bestie Linda...Linda's husband is unfortunately involved. With that weird type of energy, Rob has no pressure. Sadly, Rob has a link to Kobe, which causes an issue. Rob is everything, GM, Vice President of Basketball...too much. It's usually several people does his job. This LACK of Basketball knowledge will hurt us as long as several of these people stay.

Curious that there were no follow-up questions as to how it is that an entirely inexperienced, newly appointed Head Coach, desperately in need of reps, was allowed to sit out the Summer League. No inquiries of the GM. Nada. Asked. Answered. Keep it moving. Nothing unusual. Nothing to see, here. Perhaps members of the media scrum were intimidated by the spectre of the Carpetbagger looming from the wings, keeping account of whoever asked anything untoward or off-Kuitch script. What the hell happened to journalistic integrity? Yes, yes, I know. Stupid question. Oh, and I'm a hater.

Y’all in the chat kill me acting like LeBron and AD contribute to any of this ish show with players like James Harden and Durant walking around and demanding out of contracts. Literally no coach or player has ever spoke negatively of either as a teammate and MOST of Bron’s “guys” left his presence with a huge check. So much projection in the chat… This is the classic example of passing the buck from the REAL people in power..

I enjoyed the takes, but I cringe when Brian does the mean girl thing on Cam Reddish, we get it you despise the kid. I’ll just add I was there when the Elite poddy mouths said KCP was a nepo Klutch hire overpaid cause Bron was on his way. I remember when KCP was once having a horrible early season and hurried to the bench, thought of as a bust signing with no value who couldn’t make threes or layups. Now he is a top cog who shunned the thought of coming back. Cam has not bust out in his career and has been hurt at critical times, he will be traded to make room, please don’t be so happy to spit on his proverbial grave at this low point is all I’m asking, be kinder, thx in advance

I think any deal we are hunting will take time as we don't want to make any hasty decisions. Demar needs time to see what he can get on the open market. And then in the meantime the Bulls need to see what they can get via a sign and trade. We have time. The main things is we need to see what Bronny and K4 looks like in summer league. JJ needs to get his staff together. And we need to see who we will trade and not trade to get a deal done. Let's take our time and do it right. We have our two stars. We have our coach. Now we just need to see if we can snag Derozan and really shake the Western conference up...

It sucks ever since lebron has been on the team no one has wanted to be a laker he’s holding the team hostage with his May or may not take a pay cut he got them to sign his son when we probably could have gotten someone better instead of keeping lebron happy sign and trade lebron for value before it’s too late and he ruins the lakers for 2-3 more years… we all know Bronny will only be on the lakers until his daddy retires and then bye bye 👋

I don't think people know how hard it for the front office to make deals, especially when we always have to pay the Lakers tax. higher asking prices, and all the other teams hatin on the Lakers in general is just how it goes for us. Then we have unruly fans, that are so impatient and when when we get what we want, and it fails everyone blames the front office. Sheesh.
