I think JJ can be a good coach for a normal team. But the Lakers + LeBron factors make this a clown show waiting to happen

A clown show that won a title four years ago and was in the Conference Finals a year ago. There are 20 teams that haven't done either in two decades.

@thomascrowniii1693 yeah that 2020 team was everything that your daddy Lebron thought he was going to get when he went to the Lakers. All stars and former All-Stars flocking and taking pay cuts just to come and wear the purple and gold. Finally. A forever stacked deck. He wouldn't have to hold a 🔫 to the head of a franchise every single second of every single day....... whoops! Enjoy that play in tournament💪

Bad idea. He should start as an assistant. The Lakers expectations are ridiculous.

the lakers are not and should not expect to win a championship this year or next. reddick is the kind of hire you make if thats the case, not if you think you can win a chip this year, which they ovbiously can't

Who the hell would want to be the head coach with Redick as an assistant on their staff when they know Redick is the guy the team actually want to be the head coach?

I mean you can argue the talent but he was a positive record coach, and for most of the bucks series looked better than coach bud from a tactics standpoint. It was just that Brooklyn was a shit show lol

This is the time of year that the Lakers really care about, winning the off-season. The front office, players, and fans can be delusional with expectations and talk shyte with zero pushback. JJ is a complete unknown and is just as likely to fail as he is to succeed. Everybody outside of the LA fanbase KNOWS the Lakers are a non factor for the Finals. Ultimately, this is a PR move to grab headlines in the off-season to continue their undefeated off-season championship.

KOC, as usual, is unrealistic AH. Redick is completely inexperienced, and will wonder just who his boss is in this disfunctional family. Pelinka, Buss, Lebron? Somebody who has been an assistant would have been a much better hire.

@@Bobbleheads56 "nepotism" is getting a job because of your family. You're just some high school kid repeating a trending phrase like it's the same thing. Kerr, Nash, and Kidd are all winning coaches with similar career paths to JJ who had no coaching experience before their first job.

I’m glad to see that there are some people who think JJ has a good chance of doing a great job. He is hyper, intelligent and he has a solid perspective about team culture. He is also a grade a psycho jerk so he can handle the egos. I’m just pissed. I’m not gonna see anymore JJ and Tim Legler Collabs anymore. And since this shake up, I gotta look at Perkins uglass on road Trippin.

My problem is whatever happens to Developing your next coach while you currently have a coach. The fact that Lakers don't develop coaches and are ready for these type of situations is embarrassingly bad. Miami grooms coaches for years...Spolstara (started in film room) but they developed Stan van gundy too...Celtics Had Joe (just won a championship) on deck ready. Lakers never seem to have plans ready.
@acgeewhiz
@acgeewhiz 3 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t really say that they “had Joe Mazzulla ready”. They lost their best assistant to Utah’s head coaching job and then also lost their head coach to a bizarre scandal. I almost guarantee if the Celtics hadn’t clawed back to just lose to the play-in Miami team last year instead of getting destroyed as the #2 team, Mazula would’ve followed Coach Budenholzer into the unemployment line that Miami caused that summer. He inherited a team that had literally just been to the Finals, and this year his GM added two great players in KP and Holiday. Feel free to disregard though, because my team (Charlotte) hasn’t had a good player/coach combo in decades, lol.

I didn't want it to happen, but now I'm a fan of it. Even though Lakers deal with absurd expectations and pressure, I think this is a high upside risk. JJ is like Kerr, Nash, or Kidd. They've all had winning records for their tenures.
