The best case for this would be to find a taker to absorb Kleber's contract for draft compensation. Will anyone take that for a 2nd? Not sure. That would be $11M dropped (Lakers currently 9.16M over the 1st apron per Spotrac). Other deadline moves that the Lakers might make where they take back less than what goes out would then provide more wiggle room under that 1st apron. Some talk that a pick swap or two could bring in more 2nds to help make moves.

I say if we are making trades before the deadline, it’s because we want to contend for a championship THIS YEAR which is definitely more possible with a center like Myles Turner. So I say Rui and Reeves and more expendable more than ever since we have Luka now. We just got Vando back, Woods is coming back. So our team will be fully healthy after the all star break and will need to get accustomed to playing with each other. It’s all very possible but we just gotta see how it plays out.

Lbj should restructure his contract to get under and once Luka resigns his new contract to a 3y the Lakers will be under the apron..maybe dangle Dalton / Milton / Cam / Woods / Hayes to teams see if you can move some or all of them ...but I do agree the Lakers need to be a buy out destination.

Detroit can take Austin outright in cap space and could really use him since Ivey got hurt. They also have like 15 second round picks. We could trade Austin there for a first and like 4 seconds. Replenishes our picks a bit and gets us under the cap. They’d probably allow us to swap Rui for Hardaway Jrs expiring contract too, which would be easier for us to trade.
