As a Hornets fan Mark is a tantalising talent. He can absolutely give you a 20 and 10 every night if the offense feeds him the rock. He will block a ton of shots just because of his length. But he is not a ring protector, he is not a defensive anchor. Can he transform into that if asked of him? Maybe eventually. But that is not his nature he will have to learn it. If he does then this is a great move for the long run.

Lakers don't need a legit Rim protector like AD or Gobert as they already have Vando and DFS, they just need a decent Center with Length and decent defense (just in case they face Jokic in the playoffs). To be honest, if Im the lakers, since he's injury prone I would only play him if it's really necessary. Lakers D is doing good without AD recently anyways.

I look at it like this: It was hard to lose Dalton. However, he has been inconsistent at times, and he had slipped in the rotation. We got a guy in Williams who can contribute now and is actually a little younger than Dalton. So his game can improve a lot as well.

Anyone with an eye ball or anything close to it watching the most recent Lakers vs Hornets game could easily see that Mark Williams was a problem. I subconsciously was like, would be nice if he was on the Lakers squad. Now we have him. I mentally paired him with AD, but now it’s Luka. We will see how it goes. As far as Mark and king Bron? You already know, all I’ve got to say, watch Mark’s stats going forward, plus he is tough plus he’s got that grinder motor. King Bron will mold him into the beast he always imagined AD could be. Can he roll to the rim, catch the ball, and finish? Offensively that is gold, especially for a player like Luca. Defensively, he’s not a great rim protector for his size, but he makes the Lakers better at protecting the rim. He young. And will rebound the shit out of the ball. He’s been injured a lot, but kind of fluky injuries, nothing overly serious. Point as., he just improved the Lakers considerably.. Dalton was a nice player but Lakers have too many at his position, Williams will be much more valuable on this team

Doncic arrived for less than a week, Pelinka send out his 17th pick and an unprotected future pick and pick swap for a young athletic center. I will not be shocked if AD hates on the Lakers and revenge on the court.

Thats sad I see Knetch could be a Klay like shooter. He not only shoot the lights out but he defends and drives to the rim. If LA only signed Dwight they could've kept him & those picks. Dwight is still a lob threat even at his age and plays physical which is effective vs Jokic.

We Lakers fans like to overvalue our players. It's not like Knecht is 19. He scores, which is sexy, but he doesn't bring anything else to the table. He's no Klay defensively. I'm sure he'll develop into a 15-20ppg scorer and a good shooter but to say we gave up too much is ridiculous. My initial reaction was that this trade was a home run. I still think that way. Trevor, you mentioned this was a Kessler package, but I would argue there's no proof that Kessler is better than Williams. Mark is a better offensive threat and a much better free-throw shooter. They're the same age. In the end, you gotta give value to get value.

Just looked up M Williams. He has a nose for the ball, great rebounder and like all 7 footers, monster dunks. But he also has some finesse on his short game, and can shoot from ten feet. His form is quite good, as is his follow through. He is very agile, and can block lots of shots. He is very quick, for seven footer. Also is good free throw shooter. I have follwed the lakers since the Jerry West days, I think playing with James and Doncic will rbing out the talent in this young 23 year old. excellent pick up.

The Lakers need to send Reaves to their sixth man. It would be better to have Vincent as the starting shooting guard. Hachimura's three-point ability will shine even brighter with the addition of Doncic. It is also important for Hachimura to try things with confidence.
