Despite all the empty storefronts, restaurants and dried-up fountain -- people were still walking around Lakeside Mall during its last week of being open -- before it is transformed into a dynamic mixed-use city center.

You can blame Amazon and other online retailers. And besides everything is still made in China . Sad in my opinion and we allow this to happen.

Blame the real-estate owners that charge absolutely ridiculous rates to lease a storefront at these malls...

They lost their jobs stating in 2008. This has been a decade long trend. Malls were too expensive anyways.

Sad, say of the mall is over. Surprised Macy's and JCP did move to the empty anchor stores at Partridge Creek.

Remember the days when a mall rental unit was reasonable and not full of red tape to open a shop.

I used to go there all the time in the 80’s and was lower middle class. Not sure where that stereotype comes from that you have to be rich to shop in a mall.
