I'm so happy you made this video! It helped me out a lot!!! 🥰 I just got my Nighthaunters a few days ago and I've been listening to this on repeat whilst painting them! 😊

Oh that's awesome to hear!! Welcome to the Nighthaunt family! :D I'm so glad I've helped you get through that first door with your NH. How are you finding them so far? :)

Well designed army, very fitting lore-wise. Being a death army its usually about powerful leaders using chaff units as weapons and shields, and the fast movement and shock tactic abilities are the reason Nagash put them in his vanguard to begin with.

Just getting into the AoS and going for the spooky ghosts. The series so far has been a great introduction to the army. Looking forward to any more unit videos you have coming as it would really help me out as someone who’s not used to the mechanics of Sigmar as I’m more a 40K player 👍

@@LakeyWargames really enjoying painting them up. Stunning looking army and we’re arranging a 1k league for when UK lockdowns ease enough to let our gaming group get together to get games in to learn the game itself. Looking forward to the other videos in the series to pick up some more tips and ideas

Unfortunately I did mess up with the editing and only half the audio was coming out for some reason. If you play it in headphones it only plays in one side. Making it real quite if you don't. I fixed it for all the other videos though and will be normal in all future videos. :)

Btw the chainrasp get the extra bravery from the Dreadwarden, not from number of models :D so it's arguably even better, only downside being if your opponent has a character snipe ability

@@LakeyWargames I love learning about Nighthaunt, only played a few games with them but each game i'm learning something new, and watching content like yours keeps the memory refreshed. So thank you :D
@LakeyWargames5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :D Yeah that's definitely the best way to learn! I've been playing Nighthaunt since before we even got a book and I still learn new things with every game I play. I think that's half the beauty of dice based battles is everything is on the fly, no two situations will ever play out the same way so you have to take your past experiences and apply it best you can to your current situation! ^^

@philliphampton53804 жыл бұрын
bout to start my own nighthaunts army. It really sounds like they play similar to harlequins in 40k; 4+ save ignoring rend/ap, ignores terrain and models when moving, fast mobility, and powerful character buffs.

I can't draw the comparison I'm afraid as I have been out of the 40k scene for a long time but your concluding points are certainly the nail on the head! :)

GREAT VIDEO ! Rlly useful Can we play Nagash in a nighthaunt army ??
@LakeyWargames5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Greath! Glad you found this video helpful! :D Unfortunately we can't take Nagash inside of a Nighthaunt army for matched play due to him being too many points to fit in as an ally slot. So in order to use Nagash and Nighthaunt units in the same time you would have to play Legions of Nagash and bring Nighthaunt units over that way. Or play a grand allience death army in which case you could mix and match however you felt aslong as you covered your generic battle line requirements. :)
@vaettra15895 жыл бұрын
I dunno about the "deepstriking" ability, in 40K relying on succeeding with a 9" charge when setting up from reserves, is pretty much dead as a tactic. Not sure why it would be better in Aos? Nighthaunt seem to be one of the weakest armies in AoS, from what I gather.
@LakeyWargames5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. I see what you mean Vaettra. Nighthaunt unfortunately do suffer from a case of "When it works it dominates and when it doesn't... well it's over before it began" lol Nighthaunt are certainly not an upfront powerhouse like alot of AoS armies. Instead they rely on alot of hit and run tactics, sneaky moves and well timed grouped assaults in order to achieve victory through the objectives. Your movement tricks if played right are key. As for the teleporting from 9" away. It does require alot of luck but there are ways to make this a more effective and reliable tactic. Alot of people like to run MSU. (Multiple small units) If I bring 20 Bladegheist for example. Am I more likely to get them all in as 1 group in a single 9" charge, or get 2 groups in if I split them into 4 groups of 5 and charge them all at the same target? :) Don't forget that for every charge you attempt you have the chance to trigger "Wave of terror" on a unmodified 10+ which is what will win or loose you games. You can also cut out the dodgyness of the 9" charge by bringing chronomantic cogs endless spell giving you +2 to all charges. Now if you took those 20 guys again in four 5 man groups. They all only need a 7 to make the charge and you get 4 chances to get wave of terror off. Bring a couple of spare command points to re-roll your charges and boom. You'll make alot more than you where before. :) This kind of thinking along with well placed dropped heros in support is where the strength of the Nighthaunt lay. Again, a little luck will carry you a long way but it's amazing when it all comes together. I hope this helps! :)
@vaettra15895 жыл бұрын
@@LakeyWargames Thanks for the breakdown, 4x5 sounds like a better way to use the Wave of Terror mechanism, but then you have the problem of being relevant with only 5-10 models once you get into melee, in a game were units take turns fighting. If you could decide before each game whether to split into smaller units it would be great, but since you can't I don't think it's very strong, sounds like tough and/or big units is the downfall of Nighthaunt. But what do I know, haven't played a single AoS game yet.

Sorry Matt! The joys of the first video from all those years ago and big old rookie mistakes I'm afraid! :( The rest of the content became much better and bearable audio after this one though so I hope you'll give the newer stuff a try! :) Also I believe this one only comes out of one headphone in headphones but if you play it through a speaker then it just seems super quite. So if you play through a speaker with the volume a little higher than your normal level you should be able to kind of enjoy it. But yeah. Big rookie error from many moons ago. Forgives me please!? :( hehe.
