In the official note, that little girl actually meant "The demon killed them all" but she was in shock and wasn't really coherent so both the villagers and Gyomei thought she meant Gyomei. To this day, this girl is shown to be very regretful and always hopes for a chance to say sorry. Muzan Bollywood entrance is so funny BUT I think that's the point, since this dude has always loved dramatics

All 3 of them have killed demons even before acquiring a proper Nichirin or having formal training, they where all born fighters. And we can kinda say the same about Tanjiro since he actually got really close to hitting Giyu with his axe early on.

To explain (it was said in an extra in the manga), Sayo WAS referring to the demon when they asked who killed them. But since it was sunlight and Sayo was so little and scarred and was only saying “he killed them”, they obviously assumed she was talking about Gyomei who was covered in blood. It also said how much she regrets that and wishes she can apologize to Gyomei

Gyoumei understood why she did that, but it's not like it provided much consolation for him anyways. At which point does the "why" become unimportant and the results are all that's relevant anymore? Because that's where this is at. And so she now probably lives her life comfortably, while he still faces the full ramifications of the event by fighting the demons, for the rest of his life.

Gosh… I’m so happy with how this episode. Gyomei is my fav, so I was really looking forward to this episode.
