In tv showbiz you do what works and you perform for the audiences that may not have seen the bits. It's easy to binge watch now bc of the internet, but back then these segments only aired once then maybe a couple reruns, and then months lapse in between appearances.

@@Mercy4Hire i think the only way this would have been noticed is if somebody compiled all the animal guest videos on one tape and watched it one after another. Late Night w/ Conan O' Brien had a weeknight schedule and Jarrod Miller, while a recurring guest, was not part of a regular segment so his appearances could be spaced out between weeks and months, to the point that Conan's jokes would have been already been forgotten the next time Jarrod visited
