Josh is the only player ever to have 2 passing and 2 rushing TDs in consecutive games, the only one to ever have 3 of each in one game (in the Superbowl era), he is the only player with 40 total TDs in 3 consecutive years and if he accounts for 1 per game the rest of the year he will be the only one with 4, he is the only QB ever to have 360+ passing, 90+ rushing, and 2+ TDs in consecutive games. I could go on. Yeah, he had a bad game against the Texans. When the game was on the line against the Chiefs, Allen improvised and scampered for a 26 yard TD, breaking tackles along the way. Lamar threw a ball a little too high and a little too hard and pushed his receiver just out of the end zone. In the head to head game I keep seeing how Lamar only threw 5 incomplete passes. That is because he only threw 18 total. Ravens ran the ball 34 times, passed 19. Bills 34 passing playa, 23 rushing. Allen was 16 of 29, but had a lot of throw aways because nobody was open.

@@sagehero Allen is gonna win it this year because simply put that's the narrative and he's due. Honestly he'll win it for the same reasons Lamar won it last year. He stepped up big in the biggest games and had those big moments. That scramble TD against KC, the 6 TD's against the Rams, that performance against Detroit, those are the big moments of the season this year. Lamar hasn't had as many of those to be fair. In his biggest games this year, he lost to KC, Philly, and Pittsburgh. The good news for him is he has 2 big national TV games coming up here, starting on Saturday. If he plays big and they win both, he's got an outside shot. Still, I think Allen wins it this year.

As a Ravens fan I'm fine with voter fatigue being the tiebreaker and finally giving Allen a MVP, if only to avoid feeding Buffalo's colossal persecution complex. I'm mainly annoyed by the media's shameless flip flopping while constantly claiming the race is over. That said, Allen has the late schedule to pull ahead statistically and in terms of wins, and frankly if he fails to do so that should be absolutely held against him, you can't paper around the significant difference is schedule strength, and relative performance against winning teams. Also, while it was a dramatic win against a strong opponent on prime time, I think Allen's performance against the Lions wont age particularly well, at least relative to Lamar's. Both of them beat the tar out of thoroughly compromised defenses, we just haven't gotten used to thinking of the Lions as compromised yet. Allen had the better statistical performance in large part because the Lions offense forced him to be aggressive all four quarters, while the Ravens were in cruise control for most of the 4th. In some ways Lamar is lucky his defense kept commiting penalties, it was probably the only thing that kept him on the field in the 4th quarter in the first place. The Lions will have to boat race teams for the rest of the year, and they've lost so much in the way of personnel (especially on D) its hard to see them going far in the playoffs. Besides it feels very Ravens for Lamar to have the best season of his career, best season of any Ravens QB ever, arguably the best statistical season in the league, and almost certainly the best QB season NOT to win the MVP, and still not win the MVP. Maybe that gaping cosmic imbalance will propel them through the playoffs and get us to the big game.

Ravens historically have always done better as underdogs. Both Superbowl winning seasons they had to go on the road in the playoffs to get it done. There's just something about them that feels funny when things are going too well and they're the #1 seed and sitting at home.
