Lucky you that you can still go. I did a California Superbike School level 2 last year at Phillip Island on one of their S1000RRs, unfortunately they’ve closed the school for all of 2021 because of covid lockdowns. The schools definitely make you a better road rider.

I love CSS, having gone to quite a few sessions with them (in the US). As you mentioned, you come away from each day with new awareness and new skills, eager to practice those skills on the road. In fact, the visual skills also improve your driving as well as your road riding. I can’t recommend the school highly enough. The S1000rr sounded great in this video. That engine pulls like a turbine.

My main takeaway from this one was the peg thing. I new about putting weight on your pegs helps take your weight and lessen it on your wrists and back together with gripping the tank so you can relax more/easier, but how he explained how to use it in the bends was simple but great advice.

Top video! I spent many years after passing my test not looking much further than just ahead of my front wheel... going fast always felt unsafe (and it was, cos I ended up in a couple of hedges lol). Jolly good stuff! 😎 How well can you transfer what you learn here to daily riding on common roads? Great to have a circuit to practice on, where you can finely tune lap after lap until you hit perfection, but what happens when you come onto ordinary roads with false apexes, gravel and wet leafs? Do you think differently, are you more prepared for the unknown or how does it work in your nugget on common roads?
@LambChopRides3 жыл бұрын
The Level 2 stuff probably not that much for the road skills. Level 1 however covers bike control and countersteering and how relax your upper body, this stuff is brilliant for road riding also 👍

Always wondered how you pick up references on a featureless, flat track like Assen? Hard enough picking up the edges of the track. Is that red speck just a speck or a drone.? Did they say anything about sliding, drifting through corners? Slow motion footage of the pros shows how the bikes are actually sliding sideways up the wheels going through the corner. Admittedly they're on racing slicks.

Yeah I still find it hard to pickup reference points on new circuits. I guess its all practice! 👍

Seeing this I am pretty convinced it was a mistake for me to start out on a very hilly and technical track .. Still, don't think track riding is for me even with an easier layout. PS: We can watch all the track videos we like, learning the theoretical skills online, but getting out there really puts things on a whole different level. There is so much information to process in very short time, over and over again. It's quite hard.
