but i agree hes not perfect i just cant see the determination from him to do what is necessary like ayin tormenting everyone for 1 million years, like if he was serious about this he would've killed every single blood fiend not from his family and killed his family the moment they dont agree with him

@@LambdadeltaYT they genuinely don't even need blood to live (shown by sancho who should have starved to death long ago if blood was a nutritional requirement),they only want blood because it's like a drug to them, but the bloodthirst can be largely mitigated if they find something else to do (take both dons for example)

I feel like most people do recognize Don Quixote's lack of care for his family as his biggest flaw. It's like forcing meat lovers to go vegan. This is quite an apt comparison as you can see Don himself and Sancho, who lived for 200 years without blood herself, don't really thirst for blood as much as the others, so the thing about Bloodfiends requiring blood to survive is false. It's more like a drug, Bloodfiends themselves struggle to find a purpose to their lives, and it's implied that when sucking blood, they actually feed on the emotions of the victims, making them feel "alive" (this is also why hemobars don't work as well as sucking directly from a living human). And you know what's really ironic? His belief that you can change your nature, most likely came from seeing Sancho's change. His most stubborn and rebellious child, becoming someone like him. This probably made him blind to the suffering of his other children, who despite following his every word, were slowly going mad, cuz Don assumed they changed as well. Unfortunately because of Bloodfiend rules, the lower Kindreds can't complain about Don's decisions, leading to them pulling off "the plan". The rest is history. Don isn't wrong to dream and he did work hard to accomplish that nigh impossible dream. He thought it was possible because of Sancho. His children aren't wrong to tear his dream down, as they were suffering immensely because of it. Sancho isn't wrong in trying to kill the rebelling Bloodfiends, as in her eyes they were committing fillial impiety, which is a sin punishable by death for Bloodfiends. And the humans, as well as you and your gang aren't wrong for trying to tear La Manchaland down in order to stop the Bloodfiends from feeding on people. No one is objectively wrong, and no one is objectively right. Only people fighting each other for their own happiness, such is the life of the City.

Don Quixote is an idealist trapped in a prison of his own making, being one of those examples that the road to hell is born from good intentions. The future he dreamed of was something to believe in, but he did not work seriously towards it, simply hoping that all things would turn out well.

He did work seriously for his dreams after becoming friends with Bari, the problem is that he was too naive/dellusional(like in the book) AND the mental barrier of lower kindred didnt allow the rest of the bloodfiends to voice their problems with the current state of la manchaland, thats the tragedy of this story imo

I agree with you, reading through the story I felt more sympathy for the rest of the bloodfiends than Don quixote and Sancho. They're still good characters tho

As much as I can feel bad for Don Quixote, I really do feel worse for the other Bloodfiends over him. It's not like they had a choice to have to go along with his plan for coexistence even if it's utterly flawed. Not sure if you got her or did her Uptie Story yet but Manager Don Quixote (ours) really is tragic to me in that everything happens mainly because she could bring herself to empathize with how the other Bloodfiends were feeling and that superseded any desire she might've had for any of her Father's Fixer Fixation. I guess we're lucky that our Don Quixote/Sancho was a loner and couldn't get along with anyone but her Father.

There's a massive difference between overcoming your nature vs deciding you no longer need to eat or drink and it'll be fine. He's a great character and this canto is easily top 3, but from the start his plans of human happiness = our happiness and no more eating forever were stupid/absurdly idealistic.

The trio song is so good, by far my fav song from the Canto alongside A REAL BEAR theme. As someone who loves Papá Don I think he did good but err deeply thinking his Family was as strong as him and not stopping to find a better solution for the feeding problem. I been thinking what could be done about it, maybe take all of his Family and run around the world as a mercenary band for hire (aka a Fixer Office) getting blood from his enemies like Syndicates and other rabble they encounter while feeding on the side with methods like Larierre use to keep things civil and getting paid in blood like a Tithe for his service. Why this Canto got me hard is the fact everybody is right and wrong at the same time. We really didnt fought someone like Kroomer or the Erlking, just people who hit the bottom of the barrel and had no way out.

(Nerdmode): Correction. Don Quixote himself is not "not human". Only actual "not human"/monster is progenitor of vampires. Don baseline is human, who got converted into vampire. So his need to protect humans is his BASELINE feeling. Yes, he now a vampire, yes "his" kids are now hunters on prey called "humans", but Don still cares about "humans" (at least logically. If vampires go apeshit with reproduction and kill EVERY human - they die from starvation anyway.)
