In this performance, the high-treble parts (probably intended for violins, 'dessus de violon') are performed by bass viols an octave lower.

Lambert a joué un rôle majeur dans le passage de la polyphonie de la renaissance retranscrite le soprano à la voix humaineet les autres voix au luth à l'expression lulliste. Sa manière était tellement célèbre que l'on disait "chanter à la lamberte".
